Bored in paradise? Honey, when you start your trip in two and a bit months you'll realize that racing around the world is great, but stopping to appreciate it is even better.
As for bored. Nope. I was living the life I enjoyed. Eat, drink, swim, shag, chess, sleep, read. Will heaven be able to match this? I'm terrified of ending up sitting on a puffy cumulus with nothing but cherubs for company and celestial music for entertainment.
Flights from LP to Phongsaly Laos Airlines has twice weekly flights, many of which aren't cancelled and some of which leave on time, from Luang Phrabang to Phongsaly (and back). A better choice than road. Else you can get a boat.
A question about Phongsaly Thank You for the report!
if ther is a regular flight to Phongsali from Vientian or Luang -Prabang?
I'm going to travel across lao in january 2008
Best regards,
Alex
That was the best comment ever Buddy, not only are you succinct, clear, and orderly in your thinking, and the world's best typist to boot, but you managed to create a paragraph that even 10,000 monkeys hitting random keys on typewriters wouldn't be able to replicate in a hundred years. I salute you.
Sorry for the dog? I don't mind the call to prayers every day, but the dog howling at dawn became real old real quick. And I'm pretty sure that's nothing to do with culture. I don't intentionally mock anyone's culture, I just call it as I see it. There's plenty to laugh at in every culture and if you can't see the funny side you lose half the fun of travel.
sorry hi...just some points here. you should respect the local culture when you visit the place. if you don't like the sound of five times prayer, do not go to that place, no need to mock around with their culture. jesus won't be impressed with you!
Let's meet up in Korea Rick, I'm coming back! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! FUCK.
Same problem, same country, different institution. The bank gave me a new International cash card with the maestro decal and stuff on it and promised me it would work overseas. I wasn't even surprised when I got to Bangkok and it didn't work.
Then Randal, my bag man, couriered over five million in cash to me, which wasn't very useful because I can't open a bank account in Thailand without a notorized letter of recommendation from the German ambassador. And if I convert it to THB cash or TT the bank takes 20%, even more if I change to USD or EUR. Buy shares in Thai banks!
Then I find I can no longer do internet transfers from my Samsung Securities account, so I'll have to go to Seoul and get out my last fifteen million and hopefully transfer it off shore for good.
Anyway, fuck it, I'm coming back. Keep the fish fed and warm up the curry pot! Cheers.
hairs of the buddha In Kandy the cutural capital of Sri Lanka, they have the temple of the tooth, buddhas tooth. Now us Brits at some stage of history were not happy with the locals believing in this so we smashed the tooth into dust with a hammer, and threw the remains into the sea, but, now heres the thing, the power of the buddha recovered the tooth dust from the ocean and it ended up whole again and is back in the temple of the tooth where it resides to this day. beliefs eh?.....tsk tsk
A bad deal for whom? Yeah, I'm sure I could get a fair bit more with trimix and a level 1 underwater welding certificate, but probably not on Labuan which is dominated by Filipinos who I'm sure would be pretty happy to work for $50 a day. I'd get more in the North Sea in the UK or Norway, although I'd need about $1,000 a day to work in that miserable place!
You got a bad deal I know many commercial offshore divers out there who do earn US$500 a day, you may not start quite at that pay without experience, but $50/day is a rip off and you just weren't talking to the right people.
Great journal Hi, I was looking for "Uncle Tan" camp side info and found your site. I think your journal is great. The way you write is humorous and interesting. Great job~
Good to be back! Our paths may cross sooner than you think! I was pickpocketed in Bangkok and lost my Korean cash card, so will back back in Seoul soon to replace it. See you there, and maybe again in Shanghai!
Cheers,
Peter.
Glad to see you back Peter,
I thought maybe you got mugged or something. I may be moving to Shanghai next year. Although not confirmed, my boss has decided to open up an office there and put me in command. I am sure we will cross paths soon.

Clinical Interpretations This psychologist can empathise with your knee feelings WITHOUT scaling dreamy heights! Little voices in backs of heads have their place when they are talking sense! Maybe yours were, but ever the adventurer, PK gives 'sense' only a cautionary consideration - then acts on a greater agenda!
Much love, and keep them coming please. (Is IL on your Blog list? Sure he must be, but we haven't commented in our emails.)

Kitten Temple... Is this temple near Yangoon?
I'll be in Yangoon this August.
And..can you tell me the most beautiful place to visit near the capital???
Thamk's very much!
Hotel name and bug size The hotel is called "The Little Inn" opposite Gold Star Hotel and next to Shwe Zali Paya.
And I personally saw the bug pictured kill two cats and a donkey before six staff members carried it off my balcony.
Hotel Name?? So what was the name of this hotel that you stayed at?
Great photos, except I think you are exagerating about the size of the killer bug, the cig lighter behind is a giveaway.
Thanks
That's BrandOn to you sir... but you're right. They aren't my girlfriends. Just two groupies I picked up after a show. (Actually that's not that completely untrue)..
