Hi, im nabe from Japan. hope many will come to my space and share the wonders of traveling!!
Including me, almost all of Japanese people tend to associate travelling as a everlasting pursuit of goals of our lives, or challenge to find some parts of ourselves we have not realized. This approach has also been applied when we practice 'ZEN'. In the midths of silence, we focus on our mind deep inside and are able to find something hidden there. This special nature of Japan and people there can also be discovered in the classical writings.
In OKUNOHOSOMICHI(The Narrow Road To Oku), which is one of the most recognized books written by BASHO MATSUO in EDO era starts from this phrase,’月日は百代の過客にして、行きかう年もまた旅人なり'(The passing days and months are eternal travellers in time. The years that come and go are travellers, too.) The author of this essay continued his travel and left a number of satoris he had along it. Yes, he lost in time and travel. Travel freed him from countless of trivial daily affairs, tedious business and valueless illusions emcompassing him. Through this mercy of travelling he joted down his satoris and copleted a series of book. Many people living now also relate to those satoris. So, travelling opens our minds and is a challenge to find something new for each person.
