The pictures will speak for themselves, but we have granite Island with the tram pulled by a Clydesdale, and the markets. We also have Smallville a miniature village complete with churches, mills, cricket field, etc. Well worth a visit. You can also have a meal at the tearooms; we had a very good Devonshire tea. A very pleasant morning. The Village is situated on Adelaide Rd, number 50, and is only 4.2Km from the city centre As recently as Monday the 29th Dec. a miniature railway was also opened at the village. It is still a work in progress. ... read more

A small journey of 64 Km one way took us today to Cape Jervis. This was a pleasant drive to beautiful Valleys and the scenery was spectacular. Cape Jervis is a small village and has nothing to offer except that it is the departure point to take the ferry to Kangaroo Island. We spend a good hour watching the cars been loaded onto the ferry, it is really a skill to put all those cars into the right place, and they are so close that the side mirrors have to be closed in. From Cape Jervis we decided to take a detour and visited 2 small towns; Normansville and Yankalilla. The first one -Normansville- was very pretty with buildings dating back from the 18th century. The second one- Yankalilla- was the scene in 1997 of the ... read more

Today we did a day trip to Aldinga Beach, a beautiful little town approximately 50 Km, north of Victor Harbor; we traveled via Willunga, another pleasant little place. it was really pleasant and reminded us of Broome, before Broome became too commercialized, you can take your car on the Beach, all is still very peaceful and mother nature has not been too damaged by men.- See photos- We stopped for Lunch at McLaren Vale and visited the Almonds Train- see photo- On the way back we stopped at the cheese factory “Alexandria Cheese factory”, some very nice cheese were on offer, but I am still partial to the Margaret River region cheeses in WA. As you can see from the photos, Puppy is our constant travel companion and seems to be enjoying the trip too! Tomorrow ... read more

We arrived on schedule on the 22nd December as planned. The road from Strathalbyn to Victor Harbor is incredible in more ways then one. It is almost like riding a camel, as well as been narrow, winding etc. We found this astonishing, the South Australian Government should really do something about this, at one point in the journey I was almost seasick, it also made me appreciate how good the roads are in Western Australia. The faster roads such as the Highways are much better of course, but when you follow a tourist drive you do not necessarily want to travel on motorways. Strathalbyn itself, as a town, did not appeal to us, it was open to hoons at night, and the motorbikes were the flavor of the night, talking to people at the caravan park, ... read more

We had another bad storm last night, but that did not stop the possums dancing a polka on the van's roof again, that sent the dog wild, and we did not get much sleep after that. Fortunately we were the only van in the park, so nobody got disturbed. On the road to Kapunda, we passed many little wineries. This was very picturesque, but uneventful, so very little to report, and the photos will speak for themselves. We are only staying one night in this park. ... read more

From Wilmington- 20 Km South of Port Augusta When we left Wudinna we stopped for Lunch at Kimba, were you a greeted by a giant Pink and Grey ( see photo) it advertised a jewelry shop, and I felt very tempted….Can u imagine this in Hay Street in Perth? or in Victoria Street in Bunbury? We arrived here on the 15th Dec and are planning to leave for Clare tomorrow 18th Dec. I damaged my back and we had to stay longer then what we anticipated, as I had to visit a chiropractor in Port Augusta. When we entered the town of Wilmington, all we could see was large red ribbons on all the houses and all the trees. it certainly was pretty. When we enquired about this, we were told that it was because of ... read more

The rain has finally stopped, and the sky is blue, but the temperature is still very cool. We spent last night in Ceduna, at the “Airport Caravan Park”, the last park on your right as you leave Ceduna for Port Augusta Not a 5 stars park, but what we found was “Steve” the most helpful and courteous person one can wish for. Ever since we left home, I had trouble with the sway bars that kept popping out of their sockets, the caravan repair shop at Bunbury was no help at all in guiding me either, and we left, hoping for the best. Needless to say that it was hard keeping the van stable when driving, especially with the weather that we had…. Talking to “Steve” about that problem he said to me “ don’t worry, ... read more

When we were traveling from Kalgoorlie to Norseman, we stopped at a little place called Widgiemoolta, I hope that you will appreciate the photo of the old dunny!!!! However, I would not recommend using it! I must say that we stopped there for lunch and the roadhouse does a very good steak sandwich! But..Watch out for the friendly flies, they like steak sandwich as well….. At the moment we are at Eucla and have stopped here for 2 nights, the weather is very bad and I am a little worst for wear having driven about 400 Km a day since leaving, it may not sound very much, but my arms are telling me that towing with a head wind is demanding, AND VERY TIRING We have found that the cost of fuel was reasonable till Norseman, ... read more
