It's amazing to look at your pictures and to see you guys in a place on the other side of the world where I also have been - when I was in Korea we went to Gyeongbukgung Palace as well. Crazy!!! Looks like you are having an amazing time. Take care of that foot Smitty! Miss you both.

Miss you!
Hey Dano and Mike! Just wanted to drop you a line and say hello. It sounds like you're having so much fun there so far. Are you celebrating Thanksgiving there with a turkey, etc or would you have Korean food? I know thanksgiving is only a North American thing, but do the Koreans have anything like that in the near future? Make sure you have something to remember Canada! lol. Miss you lots. Hope the teaching aspect is going well. I've never been so busy before and yet on weekends when I SHOULD catch up, I don't feel like doing work. It's kinda horrible, but I do have a respectful class so that always helps. Would you imagine that my class AGAIN is one of the classes that teachers warn each other about? Their grade 3 teacher last year said "they were the worst class she'd ever have in 13 years of teaching!" haha. Oh well... I guess after last year I can handle ANYTHING! Hope all is well. :) Liz

That's wild! I would be really upset about the corporal punishment thing but the rest seems really neat! So much you would never know living in Canada. Hope all is well. TTFN!

How did it go?
Hey Danielle, how did your 1st day go? You guys are so brave to be trying out the restaurants - I would be scared to death of what I was eating!! I can't believe the mountain you climbed - looks beautiful! Keep us posted!

Bulgogi/Bimimbap
We have yet to try either of those dishes, but I asked my co-teacher a good restaurant where we can find them..I am anxious to try them because I think we will really like it! It's so hard to tell what a restaurant serves when nothing is in English! The pictures of cows or pigs helps a bit, haha, but it seems we'll have to keep searching! I'll keep ya posted!

Bed & Shower
Well, the bed IS long enough, but it is also hard as heck! We might as well be sleeping on the floor, it would feel the same. And it seems to be the norm here, so I have been using my hiking mat to give me a little cushion when I sleep, but it's still not great! Luckily so far, we have been keeping super busy and walking everywhere so by bedtime, we are exhausted and just fall right to sleep! As for the bathroom, yes, it is taking some getting used to...everything gets soaked so we have to be careful! Good luck Aunt Dawn with the start of a new school year! I start teaching tomorrow! Yay! I've been told the English level of my students is below par...not quite sure what to expect, but the few times I have been to school, they seem quite interested in talking to me, so that's a good start!

Funny story about the food...
Since you asked, without PB, our options are limited...haah just kidding, but we ARE limited by what we can/cannot read....aka all we can read are the numbers on the packaging! So we bought this sort of stir-fry in a bag and used pictures combined with the numbers to figure out how to cook it...only, we failed miserably!! Somehow the "4-5" beside the picture of cooking the noodles must NOT have meant 4-5 minutes, because the noodles literally started melting into a gooey mess...maybe it meant 4-5 seconds? (the noodles were pre-cooked by the way!)...we're still getting the hang of all this!!

You went to South Korea!!??
Thanks for the heads up jerks. Great to hear that everything is going well thus far. The apartment looks great and everything sounds awesome. Make sure that you guys keep us up to date and get skype, it was a lifeline for me because it's cheap as hell aka free. I know I have said this numerous times but it's absolutely incredible you're doing this. Hope all is well and you actually read these comments since I am being lame.
