Great story Hi Paul, seems like you are getting a real education about India and its people, fantastic experience for you. Hope all is going well for you. Do you have to bring gifts for the wedding couple?
mango response Hi Paul, I am in Oxford now...dreaming spires and all that. My room (in Jesus College) overlooks the oldest building in Oxford a Sazon Church. Anyway, I am having a room picnic tonight and guess what I picked up for a pudding...yep, a Mango. It won't be as good as your varieties, but I hope it is still nice x
thank God they re-use those banners! we were fighting hard NOT to make a banner for the World Environment Day, but lost the battle. I was trying to explain to the local coordinator that making this plastic banner just for a few hour event doesn't really go together with the topic of the day. So I proposed that the old banners could be sewn into shopping bags. I promised to make the first example, lets see if the idea finds support here...
Hi Paul thanks for introducing us to your blog after our chat in Chinese Dosa. We had planned only a quick trip to Pushka but now may extend it to be a little longer. Even though there seems to be some big problems with the lake the area sounds very interesting and we are definitely looking forward to visiting.
Thanks again and see you around. The EVS volunteers.
History in the makings I think you should send that achievement to the Guinness Book of Records. Well done you and Rajendra, Essenes and Bijoy! Do you know if they are interested in starting a constultancy!!!!!!!!!!!! Hugs Marguerite
Biju Patnaik Biju Patnaik is the late father of the current Chief Minister of Orissa and scion of the most famous family of Orissa, Naveen Patnaik. Biju was Chief Minister on and off in the 1970s and 1980s, I believe. And yes, it seems almost everything around here is named for him!
Swimming in a real pool! Hey Paul, This looks like a 'real' pool!! Glad you've been able to find one for your morning swims. And it looks pretty quiet. Do you think they'll close it for 'winter'? Love the 'togs' and cap!! Dave
Where is the coffee Hi Paul, A great post. Good to see you're keeping up the stamina and showing off swimming attire as it should be.
Just wondering what you do post swim. Didn't see any signs of a coffee shop.

I really enjoyed your "sea urchins" post. That stuff with the medical test and blood group is quite funny and interesting! My blog is looking for travel tips, photos, reviews, etc, to share. If you have the time, check it out at dirty-hippies.blogspot.com, or email us at dirtyhippiesblog@gmail.com. Continued fun on your travels!

curious about studying guitar in Varanasi Hi there,
I found your blog by googling "studying guitar in Varanasi." I am interested in spending a winter in India just working on my guitar chops, practicing yoga and of course, just sitting an watching the magic unfold around me. Can you give me anymore information on the study of music in Varanasi? I am a singer/songwriter who has actually been to India 4 times but never made it to Varanasi (always wanted to). More about me at: http://www.kamile.com.
Thanks!
Kamile
Lookin relaxed You are looking very relaxed on the roof of th guesthouse. Like your bike. Have you fallen off yet? I owned two motorbikes years ago. great fun. Cath says hi.
Character Building Character building scars make for impressive storytelling. Lucky it was your head, now you ahve something to blame if you start to do eratic things while you are there. Cheers Chuck
Now thats a face I recognise Hi Paul I am abaout to read your blog sitting in front of the heater. Bit cold here in Tamworth at the moment. Nice Cahnge from Mt Isa and the Gulf though. Keep up the good work. do you have accommodation for visitors??? Cheers Chuck

Essential reading for all drivers I suggest that a leaflet containing these rules should be handed to every "ferangi" driver.
Another "rule" I've noticed after 3 months in India travelling around the country as a terrified jeep or bus passenger is that the VERY best time to overtake is when you can't see anything coming - and usually this is only the case on corners or blind summits.....
Another Great Train of the World Great coverage Paul - interesting the 'missing links' are the same (as I recall) in Bangladesh.
Thanks for sharing
Hugs
