I really enjoyed reading about your travel to the Gili Islands. I am heading to Bali/Lombok/Gilis next week and am having a tough time trying to find a reputable company that does boat transfers from senggigi gili trawangan. Any recommendations?

I've just read through your reports of Indonesia, very enjoyable stuff!
We're going to do a very similar trip starting June 1st (java->bali->flores->lombok) before heading to Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand, so it's great to see the pictures and hear the stories.
Sounds like you're having a great time, well mostly anyway. I'm jealous of the rest of the trip you have done and will still do as well. I've been in Australia for the last 12 months so it takes something to make me jealous :)

I think it good to have a expert local guide's accompany for trekking, as they are farmiliar with the area and conditions. But it would be greater when they ensure me a happy tour till the end of it.

It looks like you are after a job with Lonely Planet? There's some great reading and pics in the blog that take me back a few years and are beginning to make my mouth water. I think you said that Tikal was on your hit-list, if so, then make sure you listen out for the Howler Monkeys. Is there a travel guide being written? How do Chappers. Sounds like the trip is going very well so far. Apologies for missing your leaving do I was in Dundee instead! This is a rather in depth blog, are you being paid for your travel memoirs or something? If not you should be it's great and I for one am very jealous. Hope you enjoy the Yuctan I was there about 6 or 7 years ago, some fantastic sights especially Tulum an old fortress right on the coast and inland from there there is an old Mayan city called Coba, Coba is in the middle of the jungle, and a totally different experience from the other ruins. I think it is largest set of ruins in Mexico. Much better than Chitchen Itza which is full of tourists. Have fun. Dan

Nowt really to report back here other than Connor still refuses to walk.. although he can now stuff three fingers up one nostril, and he has became consumed with interest in his tadger (think i'll keep those photo's for girlfriends to come) (hopefully girlfriends!!!)

Been working for 10 years now, had enough of the rat race, decided I wanted to 'live the dream' so I am about to embark on travelling the world at the end of June 2008. The plan is to start in Mexico, travelling overland to Guatemala flying on to Ecuador then making my way overland down the West coast of South America through Peru, Bolivia, Chile & Argentina.
