COLD OLD LONDON
I woke up this morning at 6a.m. and it was so hot that I put on my cossie and invited anybody in the house to come with me for a dip in the surf at Cronulla.Billie rang Michael and off we went. The cool waves were divine, but when we left, an hour and a half later, we'd no sooner reached the main street of Cronulla than we were sweltering again! Even the aircon made no difference. At home it was 43 degrees inside, the hottest day since 1980. Monday should be cooler,25degrees, and remaining about that 'til next Saturday, when it is expected to go back up to 32degrees, so going back to school should be reasonable! The places you are seeing now must be such a contrast to those you visited in the last 3 weeks. This world is an amazing place, Lex, isn't it.God is great, no doubt! We are getting quite excjted about your return and can't wait to sit down with you on Monday night and hear all your wonderful stories and adventures, while relaxing in the cool of evening on the front deck with Bun licking your toes to pieces and Lori and Wally telling you off for being away for so long. Enjoy the rest of the holidays in London, angel. Hope you have a great flight home.Lots of love,Mum xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox kiss, hug, kiss.

Farewell Israel, hello England! You are having an amazing smorgasbord of cultures and climates, kid. I imagine the temperature in London will be quite chilly which is a far cry from the 35 degrees we had today in the house,( lounge room). I have no idea how you will acclimatise when you come home, but I think a quick dip at Cronulla after school on Tuesday might be on the cards. What do you reckon? The tours and show you have planned while in London will just be the icing on the cake of the most valuable experience of a lifetime, which you have just had. Have a great last few days, sweety. We are all eagerly looking forward to seeing that big Qantas A380 bringing you safely in to land at Mascot on Monday night. I've arranged for fireworks to be let off all over Sydney to greet you on 26th January when you land(Australia Day).Love you heaps xoxoxo MUM P.S. Try to get SOME sleep!

Farewell Israel!!!
Hi Doobie, I'm glad to hear that you felt good about your time in Israel. If you had a positive experience with all of the tensions there over the last three weeks, imagine how great it must be when all is calm!!!! Travel safely in London. Keep your valuables with you in your day pack and put anything not easily carried in a pay locker or similar. Hopefully there will be something like that at your accommodation. Text us with your hotel's phone number when you are able and available to wait with the phone for us to call you. You text us and we'll text back to confirm that we have read it and then phone you. That will save you waiting unnecessarily. Love you sweetie, Dad XXXXX

Nan's comment.
Hello Lex, while you've been shivering over there, we've had bush fires in the Moreton National Park- which took at least 3 weeks to extinguish. We had about 12 to fourteen helicopters flying overhead all day trying to extinguish the inferno with water but it took the three weeks before they were able to do it. Pop and I are well and hope the rest of your holiday is as good as you've had so far.Lots of love, Nan and Pop xxxx

Well, you know how I feel about teaching the Holocaust to our kids, Lex. They understand racism, oppression and mistrust. Once you get past what they have been mislead to believe, they quickly and easily see that the victims of the Holocaust were no different to them. Can I place an order for that Falafel please and I think at the Diaspora Museum, I reached a new level of boredom not yet experienced by humankind! Nonetheless, it sounds like you are enjoying yourself- I am so glad x

Tel Aviv...is that a beach or is that a BEACH.like I know?
Enjoy the cool weather 'cos it's sure hot here.Went out to Cronulla yesterday with Aunty Jude and Jaime. We had a really high tide yesterday down the whole east coast of Australia and the pool at North Cronulla was totally submerged and the surfers were riding over it and right up to the seawall! Amazing!Jared got a promotion and we are all very excited about it. He will only go to London for 6 weeks in July, now. I will send him a congratulatory card from all of us Herons. Our floors are finished after 3 days hard work and we can move the furniture back in on Friday.Tel Aviv sounds lovely and it sounds like the Israelis have wonderful museums. Have you met many people that will remain lifelong friends? I can't wait to visit Israel one day and see all the wonderful places you are telling us about. LOVE YOU TO PIECES, LITTLE GIRL. Amazing tours of the Holy City and Shabbat
G'day Lex,Mum again! You must be in awe of the history and religious significance of these amazing places that you are visiting Imagine living this history every day.No wonder they fight so determinedly for it. The lectures sound heavy but considering their content you wouldn't be expecting any less..it must be mind-blowing..I envy you! What a great idea to have your funky ring engraved in Hebrew.Do they make necklaces with your name written in silver or gold in Hebrew or Arabic?Jenny Edgar had Jennifer made ,when she was in Bahrain.I think it's a popular piece of jewellery in the Middle East. The workmen arrived at 8.00a.m. and began work on the timber floors this morning, so we are all camping downstairs for the next 3 or 4 days.Dad and I went to a dinner party at Doris's last night, for Christmas and New Year. It was very traditional and nice. We are all eager to read your new blogs each day, especially now that Dad and I have access to the internet. Lucky I got clever on the laptop!!! One good result from doing the horrible new reports, I suppose. Had several hot days recently.Summer's here. Billie is nursing a poor little newborn quail. It's a grey one.I think she and Jess will be shedding tears soon, unfortunately. Bun is on holidays at Michael's, due to the works at home. She doesn't like hutches and is lunging at Michael 'cos she's cross. That's about it for today. Have a great day, darl. Love you to pieces xoxoxo Mum

Food suggestions and hellos
Hmmm you are asking me to think back 2 years! There was a fantastic Italian place on the road the Kings is on few blocks up from the dry cleaners- don't remember if it was a bit pricey but believe me their Gnocchi is to die for. I remember that place with the real choc - so good! We tended to walk into new city and pick dinner up (falalfel etc) in the mall. The Irish pub also does OK pub type meals. Please say hi to Suzanne Rutland for me and Stephanie McMahon-Kaye if she is running the course. How are you coping with the conference? Its pretty heavy going eh?

Glad you made it!
Yeah I forgot to debrief you on Israeli border security before you left! I was asked similar questions but was let go pretty quickly when I declared my heritage (the yid nose actually helped for once!) I am really glad all is going well so far and hope you enjoy the conference. Make sure you get yourself a Shwarma (kebab type thing) and the Irish pub is great if you can find it- close to the shops/ food places up the road from the Kings.
