You're a monster! Your Wwoofing sounded a bit different from my experience. I worked 4 hrs a day and was given mucho glasses of wine every night. I recommend you Wwoof in New Zealand.
It seems like you got to hang out with some cool peeps over there in Seoul which must have been nice, considering the lack of conversations before that.
I'm glad you got some info on your family and your birth date. Look who thinks he is all cool for being an ascendant.
I think my mom mailed your stuff to you on Monday so you should get it soon. And let me know when you think you might come up to the bay. Sundays will be the best for me for the next couple weeks.
Peace
P.S. that cloud shoot is awesome
you're alive! Hey Kammy, I was wondering what happened to your blog! Sounds like an amazing, eye opening adventure. It is hard for me to imagine what walking into that orphanage would have felt like. Nice to see you got to share your Cafe Rio skills with the locs. I bet you blew their minds. Also, I must say I am jealous of that coffee shop though; mine had a stupid ocean view, but mountains would have been pretty killer. Anyways, hope you arrive home safely and with a hot new pair of kicks. Peace.
Free Tibet, but please stay out of their way! Hey Kamdab, haven't heard from you in a while. Just making sure you don't try to be a rebel and get in the Chinese gov. way and fight for the cause, you hippie. Just play the asian tourist role and snap a thousand pictures. We're all thinkin' about you in S.C. We would love to be by your side, soon come my friend, soon come. Be safe, wish you well. Peace Bro!
Good to hear Nice to hear that your enjoying your trip "home". I however hope that the home you grew up in with me and you brother and sister feels just as good. I am amazed at the thing your doing and hope your having fun. I was kinda worried before you left for your saftey in crazy distant lands, but I see you are doing fine. Hope the rest of your travels are safe and exciting. I'm kinda jealous of your trip as you know I always have wanted to go to Japan , maybe someday I will, maybe you can come with me seeing that your this big world traveler now. he he. And you look more japanese than me sometimes (just kidding). See you soon bro.
Kam (and all),
For the record, your parents are proud of who you are, without qualification. Even if we had not the previous 23 years experience watching (helping?) you get to where you are / who you are today, just reading the words you write here is mind blowing enough. You have the unique history of two cultural connections: born Asian and grown American without having been swallowed by either. I envy your opportunity to see into the eyes of your genesis, that you have two worlds to call your own. For the record, I have no anxiety of diminished karmic connection by your seeking of roots. Your birth parents, if you find them, can only gain, as we have , from your love.
Let us know your flight number. We will meet you at the airport, again. - Dad
calling all genetics claire - i'm not in that much of a rush to find my birth parents. in fact, there isn't a burning desire to do so within me. i just figured i should since i'm here (meh, why not). i think that i have a neutral opinion of them without knowing them, and i think as opposed to what it could possibly turn out to be (as good as it could be, perhaps), i'd rather leave it as that. i would like to know who they are though, where they came from, relatives, etc. But as far as meeting, it isn't a very high priority for me.
btw - i do have some real parents in the states who are very kind and loving people who did a bang up job, and i'm pretty sure they are proud of me (if not infuriated @ times) :)
Very fishy Awesome fish market pic and of course I liked the flower shot flower shot, does that make me gay? Plus the monkey with dramatic lighting was purdy. And the ray shot was coo.
You have thoroughly convinced me to never play texas hold'em with you for money. From $100 up to 4 digits!?! Awesome! You better have bought me lots of gifts.
I'm glad you found some WWOOF work so you can stay longer. Hopefully they don't whip you while you pull their plow.
I will be posting my last blog sometime today. So chickity check it.
And finally being home is comforting.
Genetics I think Im now your number one fan....Great funny entertaining blogging, BUT...Id love to know if you ever find your real parents? Please keep us all posted about your progress, I think they would be very proud of you. Kathy Bates.....(just kidding...Claire)
More n'sync than you think Hilarious as always with your social commentary. I peed myself. i am hoping you find that INKAS office so I can score points for telling you about it. tally ho! luv, me
Intense travels Wow, it sounds like you have been through a lot to get to Korea. I applaud your ability to survive on your arduous journey. I´m pretty sure I wouldn´t have made it in China.
Nice pics of the guards, especially the one from behind with the flags obscuring their bodies. And I am looking for my face after the pic with the street and the lights. I mean, whatever.
It sounds like you are enjoying Korea a little more than China so far. Keep up the good work on your travels. And what is this secret project you are cooking up in your head?!?
Xi'an giggles.... Thank you for this blog. Its helped start my day off with a great big L A U G H ! Love your style its very uplifting. Am thinking of doing China too, after reading this I really want to now. Keep it coming......
OMA, OMA, OMA Very nice pics of the reflections especially the night shot of the Wild Goose Pagoda. And I lost a little face after viewing the pic of the orange light on the wall and the sun rays, but my face is on the ground after seeing the fountain pics. Awesome stuff. And who said you could get all fancy and use a word like chagrin? Who´s in charge here!?! Comeon! - A magician named Gob
Me and my blog Hopefully I will be able to post my blog right now, but you know how long it takes me to think so you could be waiting another two days. And yeah probably around the 25th is when I will be free. Good estimate.
if i was in spain, i'd yell at you too the title says it all, dan. anyway, i am super jealous of all those shots...they're not even funny awesome. if you're home on the 11th, that puts you available after, what? like the 25th after talking to lisa? i guess i could try around then. i might be coming back around the same time if i can't find a host to take care of my poor ass in korea. when you gonna post a new blog?
gracias karen, paul, and ruth: thank you all for the kind words and i hope you are all doing well. i guess traveling with dan was ok, i don't know if i would do it again. maybe to south america or something. anyway, i don't know how much more time i'm going to be traveling b/c of funds, BUT when and only when I come back I hope to see all of you again. mostly so i can show you how much better my pictures are than dan's. but everyone already knows that. ha.
wall building Let's just say I won't complain about building the hugely short rock wall Paul and I need to finish in our backyard.
Love your sepia shots and the b/w of the two acrobat guys.
You are having quite an experience. Can't imagine being alone amid a world where no one speaks my language. I thought of Lily, though, when she first came here and felt similar frustration at our house.
I love reading your stuff and looking at your pics, Kam (I know, I'm repeating myself). Just keep writing and taking photos and remember there are many of us out here listening to and hearing you.
'kay?
A little jealous, yes. Applause for the light rays. I demand fifty percent of the profit for copyright infringment. And I like the great wall shots. So super sprawling! Spain has been pretty amazing so far, what with all the architecture and food and flaminco stuff. You would probably fill up a memory card a day if you were here. Oh yeah and you would have laughed if you were in Barcelona with me when a guy playing the violin that I was recording, came over to me yelled at me in Spanish and flipped me off. I gave him the 1000 yard stare though so he lost face.
I hope your WWOOF-ing works out and that you meet more people who speak English soon. Remember I will be home on the 11th so if you can get to a phone you can call me so you can speak English. Peace out homes.
Dan
First timer to the snow huh! Wow, it looks like your first time to the snow waz in a beautiful spot. Nothing like the 8 ft of snow I was boarding in though but pretty enough. Now didn't it make you want to grab a board and go fifty miles an hour down the slope and pop off a fifteen foot cliff. Well I don't know if it's your camera or if you should start getting paid for your photo's, but keep them coming. Keep yourself safe bro! Life is good yeah!!!!!! PEACE DOG!
Are you sure that's my son and not a member of the mafia? Well, my title is self-explanatory. I prefer the more attractive photos that you have taken of my boy, but I am pleased to hear that "a new era has dawned" for Daniel.
I love all of your photos. The lemons on the lemon-colored is wonderful.
I'll help Korea invade Italy. I'm sorry for the rude gestures towards you. And, I appreciate your pc "snow person."
You must never stop writing because I want to be able to read your blogs and view your photos forever.
Be careful out there in the remainder of your travels. And, enjoy the wonder, as you do.
OK, so here's the plan: Thailand, Cambodia, Italy, China, South Korea, and Mongolia in approximately five months. Life's too short to not get lost along the way, right? I'll meet up with Danielle (Dan) and Paula (Paul) in Thailand and then rough the rest on my own from China forward.
I don't know how often I'll have time to update this, but I will as much as I can - so bear with me. Shoot me a comment or email me, I'm sure I'll love to hear from you. I promise adventure, mishap... full info
