Ah Island life.... Zara and I stayed on a small island just north of Koh Samui called Koh Phangan for 4 nights. This was the most laid back part of our trip so far. Our bungalow was directly next to the ocean, so close that when the tide came in at night it was practically at our door step. We opted for the non air con room. With fans and a sea breeze it was pleasant. The only action we saw during these four days was when we rented a moped (motor bike if you’re British) and explored the island. It was quite the experience scooting along rolling hills only wide enough for one car and a motor bike. The rest of the time we enjoyed the beautiful view of our private beach and read some ... read more

We just wanted to let everybody know that the previous days pictures have been updated so be sure and check them out. Well today we are off to Ko Pha Ngan. We have a combo bus boat ticket and we leave at noon. Hopefully this place will be a little less party oriented and a little more culture oriented. And yes today we did go to Starbucks and the coffee was good but a little different. We will try not to repeat this deed but we had to try it once. Till next time. ... read more

Hello All, Sorry we have not updated our journal lately, we are having too much fun to stop and reflect. We are going to skip a few days and tell you about our adventures in the Islands, but we will go back to our last few days in Bangkok at a latter date. We arrived in Ko Samui yesterday after a 12 hour night train ride, where we both had private sleeping bunks, and a 3 hour boat ride. Upon arrival to Ko Samui we had not booked a hotel in hopes that we could find a nice place when we got there. On the boat a man approached us with hotel recommendations and taxi service. Normally we would have told him to move on, since this is a regular occurrence in Thailand, but since the ... read more

Bangkok, Thailand is urban culture shock at its best. Cars, everywhere, are emitting giant clouds of pollution that linger for a long while among the shops, street venders, and sidewalks. The street signs have strange, happy cartoon figures printed on them, while the expressions of the Bangkok people is one of City determination to get through their daily routine with out much hassle. Stray dogs are everywhere, barking at you from under fences like Jurassic park dinosaurs or simple lazing around, trying not to move in the heat. I don’t blame them. At the beginning of the day, it seems bearable, but around noon, it’s difficult to move at all without feeling a spell of Dizziness. We started our day with a nice hotel breakfast, with warm milk and power coffee. We also took a moment ... read more

Well Zara and I are now in Bangkok, and what a place. It took about 30 hours to get here and it was a very tiring experience. Hong Kong airport was amazing, when you land your plane flies in between some large mountains. It looks almost as if the plane is going to land in the ocean. The airport is very clean and high-tech. As for Bangkok, this place is very busy and the drivers here are crazy. They do not seem to stay in the lanes, and they butt others out of their way. Tomorrow we will take some pictures and show you this place from our perspective. Also the hotel that we are staying in is very cozy and the staff is friendly. But our bed was quite a shock; the mattress feels like ... read more

Germany holds a special place in my heart since my fiance has family there and she lived there for 6 years. Last Summer I spend a month in Germany, traveling all over. But of all the cities that I traveled to my favorite was St. Goar. St. Goar is a quaint town near Bacharach located on the Rhine river. The scenery is Beautiful, and the castle there is not to be missed. I also proposed to my Finace on the Rhine in St. Goar last summer as well. I have uploaded some pictures of the city and of us after our proposal. ... read more
