Porn and Pickles Funny how the little things can make us happy... you did share your pickles- generous you. Although never did see Asian porn in Comayagi... I'm glad you've gotten settled in. Can't wait to come visit ;). See you in June! lol...
No kidding! I did manage to get them at Jumbo once. They cost me a small fortune and I shared them...totally worth it. Oh and thanks by the way. Now I want dill puckly pringles too. That may be my new mission for this weekend lol.
Porn during dinner is too funny. Gun incident not so cool. I'm surprised you didn't have pickles in Comayagua. I used to get jar from Jumbo! Funny how little things make us happy. I lost it when I found dill pickle pringles in Tegus. lol
So glad to have happy Janet back!!!! The one thing that caught my eye is the San Francisco sign....hmmm....A sign I must say!!! =)Enjoy your pickles and olives and can not wait till your next blog!!Love you miss you!!!
Hi Janet!
Yes, I was in Honduras for quite a while. I went home for six months and taught preschool. Now, I am back to teaching first grade and living in Guatemala this time. I've only been here a week, so things are still pretty new. So far, it's been a bit bumpy...butt hings are getting better. Be sure to let my father know why I haven't been writing at all. Central America is pretty far to send letters from. Plus, they take a couple months.
Thanks for thinking of me ;)
Yes, I'll make it. I'm living. Things are starting to get better. I was having a pretty off day. Like I said before, blogs can't always be happy, because I'm not always happy. I write what I'm feeling, that way, you know what's actually going on with me.
Yeah, sorry Tina, there's no way the blogs are going to stay that length. I don't think there's enough going on, or I'm even doing enough to keep writing a blog to begin with lol. Just kidding. I'll do my best to drink more, that way, I have something to say...just for you.
No, the climate is most certainly not up to par. But, from what the locals tell me, it hasn't been this cold since 1998. That's right, they even know the last year they froze like this and apparently this is even colder than that. Also, i hear there's a cold front right now and even Tegus is only at 5 degrees. So, I'm not the only one freezing.
The furniture thing is getting sorted out. They put off classes for a couple more days until there's somewhere to sit. So, things are getting a bit better.
Miss you lots!
Things are starting to look up. The director put off the start of my class until Friday. That way, there is time for them to get the whole furniture thing figured out. They should be ready for tomorrow. So, fingers crossed.
OMG. Your rent is 550? That's what the rent is back home. That's crazy. Although, maybe it just seems ridiculous to me because I make less than that haha.
And yes, I guess we are in the same boat. It is hard to explain to people, the feeling of being home even when you're technically nowhere near your home. But, at least you know what I mean.
Well Jules, I'm pretty sure that the cost would about even itself out for the AE sweaters. They may be less than a dollar at most Pacas...the shipping price would get ya in the end. But, think about it this way, if you move cottage week to Coban...you can fill your suitcase with stuff for me and bring home lots an dlots of AE sweaters. Just something to think about ;)
Don't worry Mom, I have already showed my host family the Friday dance. I don't know if I told them the name of it...I just know I've done it. In the kitchen. During and after dinner lol.
Experience and Knowledge is powerful, so achieve both over there. Luv Ya I didn't realize that you were in Hond...It is certainly great to hear something about you. Your Mom sent me theletter you wrote on Facebook and the Pic to the places you have travelled to....GREAT... Miss You but Love you even more to know that someone in the family is travelling.....Don't make this the last time you do travel, and remember Janet you can always come home.....
Saddened Oh Janet I am so sorry you are feeling so miserable. You know you will make it through though as you always do. It does sound very depressing though the weather. Just like you wrote though you need to go stock up on some more sweaters. When you get to the apartment I am sure you will be warmer. So chin up and just think of happier times ahead.
LOL This blog was so long...it was great. Julie kept asking me are you on the second one...and all I kept saying is no still the first. As I am laughing my guts out. Too funny. Some very serious shit going down there though. Do not travel on the bus system. Knowing there is no way that you will be able to keep up this long of a blog all the time. Holy typing diarrhea or what. You had so much to say I don't think I can stay at Julie's to read the second so hopefully my internet is up and running soon.
Bubbles Good to hear you made it- I had a feeling the climate was not going to be up to Janet-par, but give it a little while. I do recall Guatemala being hella cold, but does it get warm during the days? Or is it still rainy? And no furniture what's that about? LOL... wow. Well, you've got three things going for you: AE sweaters, roosters and a shelf. We all know that if you can't get up in the morning (roosters) you'll have a hard time putting on your stylish clothes to get to school (AE sweaters) and you won't be able to put anything on your shelf! Would you for god's sake have a Gallo for me though... if you need to put every piece of clothing you have on first to do it- DO IT TO IT! You won't regret it. Keep your head up and keep the blogs acomin'. Love and miss you!
Quit ya bloodclot cryin' gal!
Hahah joking, wow, that does suck. No desks, chairs, books? So is this a school or prison? What will you have your kids do? Mill around like mangy stray cats? Oh and you know what Plan B is. If the Mexicans can make it here, c'mon, I know a Canadian can! ;) Haha joking...
the name of the plantain thing Hi, welcome to Guate, hope you enjoy your time here, from your description I reckon what you had was a "rellenito"
have fun!
Where do your students sit???
As for the cold, I think it's just a cold front, no? Tegus is WAY colder than Comayagua but even at that, it's been a low of about 5 at most. Totally went and bought two new heavy knitted sweaters from the mall on Saturday. I wish they only cost me a dollar though!
