An unreliable Monsoon supports a single crop of bajra (millet) and moth/ moong (pulses). Prior to Independence it was the second town in Bikaner, a princely state founded by the Rathore Rajput Bikaji in 1488 with the support of his uncle Rawat Kandhal. Thakur Maldeo the Grand son of Rawat Kandhal founded Churu and he was senior noble at the Bikaner Court.
