Generic Today! Floating markets look neat but how did you get close enough to buy? Off the dock or should you have had your cottage canoe with you? You must have been in fruit heaven, Heather!
Ahh, the king parting traffic like Moses parting the Red Sea! (Is that right?) If only we could do that when we need to cross busy streets!
I'm linking you. I'm linking your blog. Hope this is alright w/ you! (linking from http://pbandham.blogspot.com/)
You look like you have been having an absolutely fantastic time. Makes me wish I was still abroad.
five star hotel hi heather, we just love following your adventures on the travel blog. what an interesting trip so far.(you don't look to homesick)i'm sure the jungle hotel was five stars. where was the little bar fridge? i'm looking forward to the next one, talk to you soon, all my love, dad
What A Trekker You Are! "Wow!" doesn't even do you justice, Heather! You must be in such good shape and you'll be absolutely buff by the end of your stay. I'm so glad you are experiencing everything you can while there...definitely once in a lifetime stuff!! Trek on! Love Roothie
Take Me To The Earring Man! I'd spend a long time there buying tons of silver and earrings! Clothes too! I'm afraid I wouldn't enjoy the spicy food. I have to get PC Extra Mild Salsa even!!! Good idea hiring the Tuk Tuk!
Lots of fun memories! I remember doing Peticoat Lane in London with your mom in Gr. 12!!! We'd have gone nuts in Thailand!
Take care and can't wait to read the next part!

A Job Waiting! Hey, Heather, maybe Berns Flowers would hire you for weddings, Japanese style! Neat about the flowers pointing towards heaven. A lot of Buddhist and Japanese traditions are quite neat. I can see where they get trained in calligraphy, their language looks so pretty in printed form. A patient of Dave's, ('cause he has such typical terrible writing and printing!) gave him a calligraphy kit for Christmas. Yes, you guessed it!....He hasn't even opened it yet!!! I'm trying to get him to "Scrawl" a thank-you note to her with it!!! HA!HA!

Party's Good Any Time! Sounds very cool! Just think what they'll throw for you guys as a good-bye! (Of course, if it's 4 months late, you might have to fly back for it! HA!

Bring Back Ideas! You will be a great resource for primary/jr art ideas for teachers here! These look so cool. So, they sweep out the old (Dust!) and in with the new clean look eh? Well, I hate to clean but I guess I could live with that custom as long as it's only ONCE a year!!! (Although I might not make the deadline date!!)

Learning A Lot I guess you are learning much about Buddhism. Are most Japanese people of this faith? It sounds like a very gentle, all-accepting, overall spiritually kind religion, at least when you see and hear Dalai Lama speak on it! He is so sweet!
Keep on learning...you are a huge sponge for this now! Keep on sharing it with us!

Real Reason Ah, that boy also came for the rice krispie squares! Sign me up for them too! I only took Home Ec. cooking in Gr. 7, 8, and 9 so I could lick the bowls and beaters!!!

Marmalade Mama! Hey, Heather, I think you should make some marvelous marmalade out of all those and send some over here! Kinda like Applewood Acres School where every teacher got about 40 apples a day during the fall! I always wondered what they did with them all!!! Probably, a heck of a lot of applesauce and apple crisp! Keep on Pickin'!

Christmas Blog Hi Heather,
Wow, a pink Christmas tree. Thanks for sending all the great pictures from Japan. You are quite a convincing Santa-San. I especially liked the white shoes....way cool. Silent Night and Jingle Bells are good starters, but have you tried "The Twelve Days of Chistmas" a la McLean Family style for you class?
The pictures of the Innoshima bidge are spectacular. The fall colours are very similar to Ontario, although we certainly don't grow oranges like those. They look so tasty.
The Tea ceremony sounds very complicated and precise (3.5 sips?), however it is nice to know that High School boys are same all over the world.
We are getting together with all the family on Christmas Eve at Aunt Sue's then over at our house for Christmas Day. Then we are off to the Dominican Republic for a week's holiday.
We will be thinking of you. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas.
Bye for now,
Uncle Laur.
I've moved from Toronto, Canada to Innoshima, Japan.
Toronto: large city, 5 million people, multi-cultural, English speakers, movie theaters/bars/shops, my family/friends, a car or the subway, my bed.
Innoshima: small island, 30 000 people, countryside, all Japanese, zero English, no theatres, a bicycle, a futon.
These are a few examples of my MAJOR CHANGE!
Technically I'm here to work as an English teacher. In reality, I'm here to play with kids in elementary school, hang out with junior high kids and have high priorities of traveling and exploring!
Welcome to my travels!... full info
