nice! I enjoyed your blog of Seoul. You went through varies things you did and I love your adventure spirit! I didn't realize we could take a ferry from Korea to Japan, I'll definitly look inyo it! Thanx for sharing!!
Ethan..... Hey Ethan. I'm surprised we never ran into each other in Habu during weekly rounds to Saty. man I miss going there! how was the International School Day? I started working on that, but (obviously) didn't get to see it through. You know, I always thought you were an urban myth....only having 5 students and all!! haha. Are you staying in Japan for another round after this one?
Habu Hey Heather, i've stumbbled across your entries more than once but I never realized that you had been living on Innoshima! I live way out on Uoshima, about an hour away from innoshima (pretty well known as one of the most rural placements on the jet program... 280 people, only 5 students, etc... do you know it?). Just yesterday i was out at the Innoshima International School day and probably saw a lot of your old students. They are a wild but cool bunch. Then I met up with the new jets out on In-to, jennie and angela. A good night of wandering around the Habu chinatown, karaoke, and picking up my weekly shopping at saty =) Hope all is well wherever you may have ended up.
Sayonara, and a bit of a boo hoo hoo.... Heza san! Thank you for bringing closure to your blogs:) I really enjoyed reading the final installments of Heza in Japan. I especially enjoyed this last one. I remember my sayonara blog was bittersweet as well. How do you say goodbye to such a lovely, beautiful year and the people to go along with it? I outwardly sighed at your taking the ferry to work and the hot, green tea as "things I'm going to miss." Let's just hope there's lots of good adventures still to come! Stacey
Days Gone By Yes, you surely did have a great experience there this year and even though you may have struggled to leave it, you probably left a little bit of "Heather" back there too. You touched lives and made a difference in a way you will may never fully know.
A wonderful opportunity and you gained a lot from it!
Takes Me Back! Your mom and I did this once but in those tiny booths at K-Mart or some place similar! I would have liked that too, heather. You should start one here Japanese style!
Dine Out! Well, Heather, you'll be dining out on that celebration for a long time to come! The festival of all festivals! I think I'd like to hang out at them, dance and take in the fireworks and food! Great pics!
heather bo-beather! I'm soooo glad I got to share part of my japanese adventure with you - that weekend was definitely a highlight! can't wait to see you real soon! xxx
another wonderful weekend It looks like you had a great weekend with linda and her cousin. The floats in the parade look amazing. I wonder what they would think of the Santa Claus parade?
you are lucky It looks like you had an interesting day with your friend. She has taught you a lot about the culture. It was nice to have met Katayama sensei, please say hi from us.
More and More! I'm beginning to think more and more that Japan is just festivals, gardens and temples! What is festival food?
Was your internet cafe room cheap accommodation?!!! Cool idea. Have you decided yet where you will be next year?
Different! I'm glad you got to a concert and witnessed such a different response. Certainly not what you've seen here at the ACC! We recently went to Bonnie Raitt the same night your parents went to see Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and that corner of TO was rockin'!
Very cool jellyfish, and you're right, the penguins look like the ones on those ornamental skating rinks until you turn them on and they move!
Julia! hey julia! i don't think i saw you that night...at least, my extremely foggy memory doesn't remember! it was a good party though, eh? I hope you read this reply....i don't have a contact address for you! see you around!
Heather
Happy Birthday! Did I see you??? Hey Heather! Happy belated Birthday!
I was at the Beach Party Saturday night too...I only arrived at midnight though, because I waited for a friend to finish work. Did I see you at all? I am having trouble remembering the night! Hope you had a blast and hope to see you sometime soon!
More Posters?!!! The kids steal the show again! What a cute pic of those kids..the girl in headgear is particularly classic....looks like an ad to promotefor travel to Japan. Is quite a stopper! No doubt you will be asked by many people, (including lots of teachers!) to come and do a presentation on Japan. You've go the whole thing right here! You can make a dvd of all this or power point...not that I'd know how!!!!!
Best B-day Ever, Eh? Bet this will top birthdays of the past and future! How very special! A Happy belated b-day from moi! This post is one of the greatest..so interesting and just cool with excellent pics, as always! And, yes, I LOVE the sunset! Another poster in the making....you could make a collage of all the sunsets and frame it and maybe plack it.
I love the chill out tent idea...we need to copy a few ideas of how to party! I might not ever leave the massage area! HA!
I think this is one of your neatest experiences yet!
An Honour What a neat ceremony to be a part of, Heather! An honour to be invited, too. One of yet, another fabulous memory you have of this whole Japan experience! What a marvelous book you'll have when you bind this whole travel blog together! We'll have to have a tea visit when you come back! Well, maybe a few cups, in fact!
Great Photos! Heza san! It looks like you enjoyed a very "real Japan" kind of day! I guess we're just not suited for the agricultural life of Japan, as mikan picking was rather trying too! Thanks for the photos:)
YAY! Congratulations to Heather for climbing the Great Wall! It's considered a great pilgrimmage among the Chinese to scale the Wall; every Chinese person dreams of someday climbing the Great Wall, first built nearly two thousand years ago when the country was unified under one emperor. Heather, you're an honorary Chinese!
I've moved from Toronto, Canada to Innoshima, Japan.
Toronto: large city, 5 million people, multi-cultural, English speakers, movie theaters/bars/shops, my family/friends, a car or the subway, my bed.
Innoshima: small island, 30 000 people, countryside, all Japanese, zero English, no theatres, a bicycle, a futon.
These are a few examples of my MAJOR CHANGE!
Technically I'm here to work as an English teacher. In reality, I'm here to play with kids in elementary school, hang out with junior high kids and have high priorities of traveling and exploring!
Welcome to my travels!... full info
