A Town Like Alice by Nevil Shute I still remember watching A Town Like Alice on Masterpiece Theatre back in 1981. It made a real impression on me. Can it really have been 32 years ago?
Thanks so much for blogging your trip. It is great reading!

WOW! What an awesome day! We look forward to all the snaps and more tales. Hey, do they have mini didgeridoos (like the old grade school tonette musical instrument) that would fit easily for a souvenir for Walt? I know he'd be playing it in no time! By the way, good job Walt! Are the devils fast runners? Did they spin? Probably not... How is their chocolate? (yum, chocolate!) I would expect more like European chocolate. Your trip just gets better and better. Enjoy New Zealand!
G'Day Loving your blogs! Fred thought the bridge incident pretty funny and could picture you saying over and over "Where's my harness?" OMG! Are you on a different ship now? We found following the site "Oosterdam position" best to keep up with you. It had links to a satalite image of each port that's awesome! Can't wait to hear more. Enjoy Austrailia!
The only place I found I could use the ships internet when taking the route you are on... was Apia, Samoa. Until I got internet, I wrote my blogs in Word, and saved my pictures to my C-drive. So when I got internet, it was just a matter of quick cut and past, and uploading the pre-selected and sorted pictures.
To load pictures,
1. Start with your Profile page, and click on List Entries at the top.
2. Select the entry which you wish to add pictures, and then click on Photos.
3. Then click on Add Files at the bottom left corner of the Upload Photos screen. The browser will ask you to select the file from your C-drive or wherever you stored your pictures. On my computer I can hold down the Control key and select multiple pictures.
4. The click on Start Upload...you will see the progress as each is loaded. The pictures will show up in the Photos screen below. You can then rearrange them and edit captions, and rotate pictures.
5. Once you are satisfied, click on Review at the top of the page, and that will save the pictures. Then repeat for each blog.
I look forward to reading your blogs and seeing your pictures!
Sounds Wonderful I'm glad you grew those sea legs and I'm sure you get rocked to sleep at night. I love being on the water. Your classes sound great. Sounds like my kind of trip.
We just got home from Kentucky saw some beautiful horses and lots of rolling hills and green grass.
My doll class was great and so were my classmates. We all had dinner with Barbara, the teacher sat night. For being the outsider I was welcomed with love and learned so much.
Hugs to you and can't wait to hear more.

re: portside Oregon/10-01-13 Waved at you from 10am to 11 am. Saw you increase to 20 knots due west of Yaquina Bay. Did they have a crossing the 45th parallel ceremony? Calmer seas down south, eh? Lights out!
Cure for seasickness... A number of TBers recommended Sea Bands, elastic wrist cuffs with a nob that presses against the vein side of your wrist. I am very sensitive to seasickness so I tried them (one on each wrist), and it worked! I wasn't sick at all on our cruise from Honolulu to Sydney. I don't know if they sell them on the ship so you may have to wait until you get to Honolulu.
9-30-13 Good Morning! Just checked for your ship on the Live Ships Map, but could not find you. I saw the Pearl & the Zuiderdam. I will check again after work. I hope you made it to Seattle yesterday without any delays. Quite a storm here!
Bon Voyage! May you have smooth sailing, clear skies, rest and relaxation and see amazing sights around the glorious Pacific. Venture on Walt! Venture on Gisela!
Have an ACE of a time! So excited for you guys! I'm sure you've thought to pack an english to aussie dictionary but in case not, here are a few handy phrases:
Dunnie – toilet, bathroom
Nosebag / Takeaway from a restaurant
Grog alcoholic drink, likely beer
Plonk / Cheap low-quality wine
Whoop Whoop / the middle of nowhere
Servo / Gas Station
Bottle-O Bottle Shop / Liquor Store
Chemist / Pharmacy
She'll be apples / It'll be right
Look forward to reading about your adventure!
