The next part of our trip Kym and I were really looking forward too, heading to a part of Australia that not many people visit, and those that do, usually fly in from Darwin. The road in to Nhulunbuy is 750 km’s from Katherine with about 650 of those on gravel, and there was a particular river crossing prevented us from getting a transit permit as it was well over 1mtr under water. (You need a permit from the indigenous land owners to do pretty much anything in East Arnhem Land). Once the permit was obtained we headed off bright and early, most of the track had been graded fairly recently so it was good going until we reached the Goyder river crossing.
