Bangkok Initially we planned on going straight from the Philippines to Vietnam, but because we spent a week less than we had planned in China we were a week ahead of schedule, so when our visa expired in the Philippines we had 7 days to kill before our visa to Vietnam began on May25th. So we decided to fly to Bangkok and see a bit of Thailand before going to Vietnam. So the next day we caught a flight from Caticlan, Philippines which was supposed to leave at 5 pm to Manila but was cancelled for no apparent reason, remember we are in Bizarro world, so we were put on standby as we had a connecting flight in Manila to Bangkok departing at 9pm. Luckily we were able to get on a flight that left ... read more

Cebu City Well we caught a flight from Hong Kong to Cebu City, Philippines and arrived safely. We landed in the Philippines on April 28th and was granted a 21 day visa upon entry. Once we landed at midnight we jumped in a cab and headed straight to our hostel or pension house as they call them here. Now I thought mexico was a ghetto, it's got nothing on Cebu City!! We arrived at our hostel and was greeted by 2 friendly armed guards that stand out front of the hostel. During the day there is 1 armed guard and this isn't just because it's a hostel, but every shop there has one and even the banks have 3 armed guards all with 12 gauge shotguns and pistols with belts of bullets. It was quite shocking ... read more

Shanghai So first I would like to start by saying that this is much over due. I realize I have been a lazy ass with not making any other entries in so long, but its tough when your in Bizarro world and tough to find computers that actually work properly. So to begin I'll start with the furious time we had with trying to go to Xi'an. We woke up the next day and was informed by the tourist help desk at our hostel that we need to pick up our train tickets to Xi'an at the west station and then catch the train from the central station. At first this seemed odd, but we realized we were in China and things are a little weird. So we got to the train station purchased our ticket ... read more

Day 1 Well we finally made it to Beijing!! This is my first entry because we have been too busy for me to have the time to sit down and write. After our 16hr flight (13hrs direct from T.O) we landed safely around 5pm, and now had the tough task of navigating the streets of downtown Beijing without a map, not being able to read street signs and with no bystander able to help us with directions because of the language barrier. The only people that could speak English were the shady characters trying to give us a ride on the back of their jimmy rigged bikes that have seats in the back....yes I know it sounds strange! After turning down the rides because we feared for our safety if we had agreed. We decided to ... read more
