Follow that Road An evocative pic that makes one wonder the dilemma of patience, futility or how long the wait. I'll post this in TB's "Follow that Road" thread in the Photography Forum. Check it out.
Just a slight double-take that the church sits at an elevation of 2140 km (and you & Kyle being able to climb to it! :-) My feeble brain would have automatically converted/ignored it if I had retained more than a shadowy memory of metric units... Anyway, it caused me to read it twice and then smile.
Baseball Body Language Great story of baseball connections in Georgia. Dave will love it, of course. His recent senior softball “essay” attests to those “baseball” genetics alive in aging players whose walk/run is a bit slower and stiffer these days. George, the Georgian pitcher, is a very perceptive young man. So cool that he recognized what Kyle carries in his baseball body memory and movements.
Legends Legends speak so much about national psyche explaining natural phenomenas. Thanks for sharing this Georgian one of knights, the bond of sisters and love.
Beautiful! Crazy - the photos remind me so much of our time in Baden Baden, Germany, which is a spa town known for its thermal baths. What a coincidence!
Do I or do I not? I too have a tiny folded item that enlarges into a large lightweight bag for souvenirs. Perfect for table runners and bits of pieces from our travels. Always returns home fully packed!!! Those that make it are treasured memories or kitsch best discarded. And there are those (I recall a few) that I did not buy that are chances of a lifetime thus lost and in memories for years unable to rectify my regret. Many items one says I will get later in my trip...which thus become opportunity lost. Happy hunting...a unique treasure found is worth a thousand wishes!!!
Abodes Wow! Almost exactly like the hayloft home at Shamrock! Ok. A little different, but of similar fascination and international design. I'll take them both.
Follow that Road Our last trip was Uzbekistan that I will blog shortly. My lure was the Jewel of the Old Silk Road. Will be worth your wait Valeri. May Georgia surpass your surprises.
Travel planning during Covid... I discovered the same problems you encountered in trying to visit Scotland at the end of August. First United cancelled my flight. I could have booked with their partner airlines, but then Scotland required testing, quarantine, and the US required testing before I return even though science states that those who have been vaccinated, which I received, have a minuscule chance of contract Covid. The I found out that I have to make a reservation for every castle, etc, that I want to visit. I had wanted to visit a couple dozen over two weeks, and having to stick to a rigid schedule was impossible for me. Who knows what other surprises they have in store for me. I'm flexible, but not to the extent that I can calculate the risks of stumbling blocks appearing randomly. I've put my trip off to next year. I hope by then that health authorities have come to their senses as accept that Covid will be an endemic disease just like every other for which we are vaccinated.
I sure hope travel gets easier, especially for those of us trying to be responsible with vaccinations and testing and such. Fingers crossed for all future trips. I am bet you will be happy to postponed your trip.
