Im finding it really hard to keep up with this, as any of you reading it will have noticed. sorry about that but its just the way life goes. Looks like I have to go all the way back to Fri 5 if I want to talk about everything, so im gonna have to compact things. Fri feb 5 we went to McDonalds, a couple of the girls had been wanting to do this for a while so a bunch of us went. it really is true that McDonalds' are significantly nicer outside of North America. Well it has now been almost exactly a week (give or take an hour or two) since I got here. Crazy! This winter is the coldest St.Petersburg has had since the mid 1980's. Jeez. Talk about good timing on my part... It smells like smoke everywhere. I can barely breathe the girl behind me is smoking so much. getting used to it though. Almost wanted to smoke myself one day because it was so damn cold out (I didnt though). I got put into the top of the 2 groups of canadians (with 5 other students) The classes are entirely in Russian and I can actually understand 90% of what the teachers say (they speak clearer and slower than Russians do in reality, but they are still talking at a decent pace) Speaking back to them ... read more

Well I made it here and Im still alive sitting in an internet cafe with others right now so many things to say and so little time. I will hopefully get internet in my residence in the next week or so which will make it easier for me to do this. For now I will keep it short I am living with a russian roomate in a small old dorm my roomate is a computer science and math student he is fairly shy but keeps the place well organized and clean It is freezing cold out but I have warm clothes so it is standable I am glad I brought a blanket with me because even though the rooms are quite warm, it was necessary.
