Lovely place you call home "But then I wanna go home. " Well said. Rather, well written. After reading this, you certainly should want to get back. You live in a beautiful place. So I'd throw back the same question, why leave? ha ha ha. Seriously, it must be that sense of adventure and discovery. Maybe.
You write so beautifully. You obviously love your home place on the planet as I love my little corner. Closest I've been is a fire assignment in Colville, WA and then Waterton for fun after a week in Glacier NP - I would love to spend a month tooling around BC, Alberta and northern Washington. Your elephant's eye picture is lovely... Enjoy your home sweet home Andrea!
Blog of the year Congratulations! :) This blog was nominated as one of the best of 2010, in the South America/writing category.
'' It reminded me about the good and the bad of travelling, how somehow you have a desire to keep exploring even if the place you've discovered is not quite where you want to be.....''

Anos verses años! Gracias for the laugh! Although I am aware of the discrepancy and like you guessed, do not have an ñ on my keyboard..read: I'm too lazy to go looking for one...I figure it kinda makes for a more interesting read, right? lol
año = year; ano = anus
In that particular case, the omission of the tilde on the 'n' can lead to funny misunderstandings. So 'cumpleanos' means 'achieve/fulfill anuses'. On Spanish keyboards, there's a separate key for the 'ñ', but if you can't find it, you can write 'ny' to be on par with the pronunciation, at least.
To make matters even more complicated, in Portuguese 'ano' indeed means 'year'. You should keep that in mind in case you hop over to Brazil.
If you already knew all of this, ignore my comment :-)
:) funny...less than and hour ago was talking to a friend of mine. He was asking me why exactly do I like to travel so much...what keeps me going - the first sentence that u wrote is exactly the same as mine was "For me, travel isn't just about the journey it's about the passion it evokes deep inside of me." Keep having a passion life :) Jana

Amazing Cuba This is the first picture that I saw when I opened this page. I was just out surfing for some good travel blog inspiration. And I cant believe I just recognized this place. I was in Trinidad in 2006, and it was the first place I could think of, before I read what place it was from. I loved it! Hope you did too :)
almost .... almost Andrea, your blogs never fail to entertain me. I almost "heard" the sounds judging by the pictures you posted, helped along by your detailed descriptions. And hey, that pair of busy frogs (for soup?) made my day ;-)

Perfect timing! Hola Liliram! Thankyou for your lovely comments. October-end of dry season-the weather in Cusco/MP was wonderful!! and milder than say Arequipa/Chivay. Don't pack too heavy, as you can always buy yourself a nice alpaca sweater or get a rain parka if needed. I wish for you to make this fantastic trip too!

Volunteering in Arequipa Hola Yo Gabba Gabba. I'm sure they would be appreciative of your help, or donations. I think that's great. Go to this website for contacts, www.blansal-casaverde.org/eng/english.php or you can always arrive in Arequipa and go to the cafe there to make contact. Enjoy your trip!
This Canadian girl's passion for travel comes from my adventurous parents. My brother and I spent most of our youth traveling all over North America in the family’s camper van, airplane, and boat - going as far west as the Hawaiian islands, as far north as Tuktoyaktuk, and as far south as Mexico doing lots of adventurous stuff...canoeing, surfing, fishing, camping, hiking, skiing, exploring, jellyfish poking...it was the best childhood ever!
That same adventurous spirit fueled my travel passion for over 30 years. I’ve been all over the shop. Now that I'm newly retired, I split my lif... full info
