Girl scouts, First snow, and only 2 months left! How time flys! I can't believe I have already been out here a month! Well it began snowing in the very early hours of yesterday meaning when I had my VERY early wake-up call (4:30am!! so that we arrived for our girl scouts event on time) there was a great expanse of snow outside my window! Admittidly you couldnt see it very well being pitch black! But it was there :) We had collared up the dogs the night before so at 5am we quickly loaded and departed the house while worrying that we wouldnt be able to get home! The weather forecast predicted 5-9 inches and the latter end of the scale would mean travelling would be a little tricky. As we were on the ... read more

350 miles North of Watertown, 25 miles from the nearest actual town, 7 miles from the nearest shop (notice singular!) and 5 miles from the nearest next inhabitant was our campsite. Oh and I could see Canada from the road!! Yes, we were North :) On Friday the 5th, Neil and I travelled the 5 hour Journey (with the compulsory stop at the doughnut shop, Tobies!), to Grand Marais the nearest town to Linda’s land at 8 at night! We were about 20 miles away from GM when all of a sudden Neil slowed right down. There are HUNDREDS of deer this time of year and so we had to be real careful they didn’t run into the truck. I then saw this figure of an animal trot out onto the road and when it hit ... read more

Racing, S'mores and the World's best lasagne! This weekend I helped one of Linda's friends; Rich, with a Dryland dog race! The race is in Clearwater, MN and is called East meets West and it was pretty awesome! It was quite small for a dog racing championship with there only being about 15-20 mushers competing. There were 5 main events; Caner-cross sprint, Scooter, Bike-jor, 4-rigs and 6 rigs. The Caner-cross as explained before is when the dog is attached to you and your run/walk! Rich had to run 1.6 miles and managed it in 8 mins 53 seconds!! EIGHT MINUTES! It takes me over 9 minutes to run the 1500m at school! He said though that in the second that his weight was off the floor (when you take strides) Mckenzie (his dog, who was ... read more

First frost, Running and Peanut Cookies! This morning I woke up to the MOST amazing sunrise I have ever seen. I have put a piccy up for you peoples to see it however my damn camera isn't good enough to truely capture the absolute awesomness that I witnessed :) AND the ground was covered in FROST!! Real life frost :D also the puddles and dogs water buckets had a layer of ice covering them! By layer I mean over an INCH thick!! So we loaded the dogs up in the van, however this time one of the female is in standing heat (meaning she is a baby making machine!) so the poor males were going loopy in there crates trying to get to her! Poor mutts :) we then drove to the other side of ... read more

New people and Movie time!! This morning I got to meet Rich one of Linda’s friends who now owns Mckenzie (Linda owned him in April when I came to visit!) and Wahya (one of Tuloons first lot of pups). Next week I am helping Rich out with an official dog race! There are two parts, a caner cross 1.6 mile sprint and a 2.4 mile bike race and I am megger excited to actually help out in a proper event :) I then met Chris and his daughter Sarah, also Linda’s friends who bought Sasha with them! She is Wimzi’s sister and the two of them get on like a house on fire :) When we first let Wimzi out of her kennel she immediately attacked Sasha to put her in her place, but Sasha ... read more

Visiting a real American Town! Today Linda had to drop off some candles (she makes beeswax candles!) in a town called Stillwater which is one of the FIRST towns ever built in Minnesota! So I came along so I could see a proper old-school american town :) (Watertown though awesome is..kind of small!) Stillwater practically borders the next state eastwards called Wisconsin and they are only separated by a river. We ventured up and down the shops and there was this AMAZING christmas shop that sold absolutly fabulous decorations! I think it was german as it had all the old fashioned 'cuckoo clocks!' and LOADS of wooden nutcrackers in the shape of people!! I literally felt like it was christmas already! Then we went to a proper All American Diner!! Yes there were little booths, ... read more

Day Seven- Copper Visits the Vets :) Got up and did the normal morning routine today :) Fed the dogs, had mon brekkiefast and chillaxed for an hour! As mentioned before Linda has A LOT of trees. Now half of these are situated near the dog kennels so half the leaves blow INTO the dog kennels. Dogs then pee on said leaves and it begins to smell (obviously!). So I spent the good part of 2 1/1 hours raking up leaves while mad huskies kept trying to hug and kiss me! (Klaus LITERALLY hugs you! He jumps up, wraps his front legs around my waist and digs his head in my stomach! all in the attempt to fight for affection) When the leaves were succesfully taken care of I moved onto chore numero two, chucking ... read more

Meet the Huksies :) Well the last couple of days have been quite quiet so I thought I would introduce the glorious beasts that brought me out 1000's of miles from my home land :) Linda has 13 Huksies at the moment. Most of them are Hedland huskies and a couple are Alaskan breeds. When I came over in April earlier this year she had two inuits which are the dogs that the native americans used to use 'back in the day'! They're far more aggressive and pack orientated than the others but her two where absouletly lovely :) However Ilu (the male and son of Icoa) had a bad back so him and his mum moved up north to carry out the rest of their lives with a Lady that takes in inuits! Anyhoo's ... read more

Day Three- My First Run!!! I got up at 6:20 today… SIX TWENTY!! Its still bloody dark when I get up :) the sun rises are really beautiful though, they go from deep orange to bright red to purple. So pretty!! But I am normally picking up the dog poop at that time so I can’t take piccys. The colours change within the space of seconds! Its fabulous! So yar, I got up today and we loaded all the dogs onto the van, not an easy feat may I add!! You have to do one at a time and then lead them to there respective crate. By the way add into the equation that the dogs are FREAKING NUTTY!! They get so excited!! I had one try and back flip on me! We then drove ... read more
