Just a two-days trip to Gili Air. I had one of the most impressive sunsets and one of the most beautiful moonrises ever on this island. I enjoyed a nightdive and another two dives around the Gilis. But- and that's a big but- I was really shocked to see such a massive destruction caused by dynamite fishing done to the reefs there. They must have been spectacular and beautiful. But now - reduced to a wasteland. Yes, there were great spots I have seen, and thats where most of the pictures come from. But the impression of the ruins of a once beautiful reef overlays that.... read more

Spending a few wonderful relaxed days on that beautiful island. Diving in the morning, zipping around on a motorbike in the afternoons... Excellent! And, most important of it all, spending these times with a friend, Evy. Just a friend, but incredibly great.... read more

Two weeks in Central America. Starting in Cancun, spending a few days in Tulum where I had wonderful days onf diving in the Cenotes. Then I spent a bit more than a week on Caye Caulker. Excellent diving, wonderuf relaxed island life. No cars, just golf carts... No mobile phone reception for me...:-) From there I had a two-days trip to Guatemala, to Tikal. I stayed in Flores, on Lago Peten Itzca, a wonderful city on a beautiful lake. Tikal. One of the most impressive places I have ever seen. Amazing architecture, and this leaves questions in your mind. Who where they? Who built this amazing city? Who was living here? Then I went to Tulum again, had the most impressive dive in the temple of doom, on April 13th...:-) The last days I spent in ... read more

Half Moon Caye Wall, April 6th and 8th 2012. The second dive after the Great Blue Hole dive. In my opinion the two most beautiful dives of my whole trip. Half Moon Caye Wall and Long Caye Aquarium has wonderful maritime life. The most graceful animals out there are the rays. Spotted eagle rays, a bit under 2 m wing span, and they are flying by effortlessly...Turtles, also gracious swimmers. And all the other nice fish and lobsers and corals out there...... read more

Diving the Great Blue Hole! Down to 40m+... Into the deep! The Great Blue Hole is one of the most iconic and legendary divespots in the world. It is unique and quite different from all the other dives I have done in that area. The Great Blue Hole does have the colourful maritime life as the divespots at Half moon caye and Turneffe Atoll. However diving the great blue hole is impressive. Going deep and into the deep blue. And it was the only place in belize where I saw Carribean Reef Sharks. I had two trips to the Great Blue Hole, on April 6th and 8th 2012. A good thing is worth doing it twice... Especially since the second dive after the great blue hole was Half Moon Caye Wall. Both dives there were magic. ... read more
