Mandela
I learnt so much about Mandela throughout my journey, it was an honour to follow in the man's footsteps in so many places there.

The Mountains of South Africa
Your explorations continue to take you to many amazing places. I can hear the excitement in your voice of another day of travel. Waiting for the unknown to reveal even with some crazy roads. I didn't realize Gandhi lived in Africa. I think I would enjoy staying in the Bunker, very Tolkienesk. We would have loved, loved, loved the Boys Choir. What an experience. Music is good for the soul but gives a front row seat to the local culture. Fantastic. I wish we knew more about the cannibels. LOL.

South Africa Mountains
Thanks Merry! This was a particularly exciting part of my journey - I'd heard so much about these mountains, they were the stuff of legend to me! I was very much thinking whilst at the concert that you both would hugely enjoy it too. Apparently the Cannibals is a cave in the region, and one can only wonder how it got its name!

Monaco
Your blog makes me want to revisit Monaco again. My visit was a busy Saturday evening so definitely feel I should go back and explore that casino with a tour. I loved all those nice cars, especially the velvet black Lamborghini. Sorry I'm mega behind on your blogs, but I'll catch-up

Monaco
Thanks Alan! I really loved Monaco, and I would very much recommend a full day or two there if you can. The cars were amazing! Ah, no worries, I seem to be writing so many blogs at the moment, now that my travelling is well-and-truly up-and-running again!

Drakensberg
Glad you got to the Railway Station in Pietermaritzburg ..... the Comrades Marathon made it impossible for us. The Mandela Capture Museum .... interesting. Of course, it hadn't in 2006 when we were on our travels.

Drakensberg
Thanks John. There are some interesting stop-offs on the way from Durban to the Drakensberg. I didn't get to see the battle sites that you did though, that would have been good if I'd had a bit more time.

Durban
Thanks John and Sylvia. I have just read your blog - well done on getting beneath the scary surface of South African insecurity, and getting to know the real people :)

Doing Durban
You always do a nice mix of the expected and unexpected on your trips. A glimpse at all the major tourists stops but including sites that impact the people living in the local. The Haare Krishna Temple is a perfect example. I enjoyed reading and it was an education for me. Hopefully, you will have time to visit the Monterey Aquarium when you are in California. I would like to see that shipwreck. It sounds like you sampled some good foods on this journey.

Durban
Thanks Merry! Durban was cool, and I landed a great accommodation with great hosts there, which made a big difference. I enjoy the tourist sights, but I do indeed enjoy getting a feel for the local way of life too. The local Indian flavour of the food was a real treat, and I shall certainly look into the Monterrey Aquarium for my California trip over Easter.
