Hiking the Donghe River and Jinlun

We met a Swiss Priest who has been here for 30 odd years. He has done so much hiking through the rain forests and we had the pleasure of joining him on a riverbed hike earlier this January.

Although the mountains are lush and right outside my back door, marked trails can be counted on one hand here in Taitung and the back-country is only recommended if you have a 'mountain man' as a guide. Riverbeds are always a good option😊

The second group of photos are of another hike we did in Nov...in search of a riverbed hot spring. Needless to say, the hot spring didn't exist anymore except for its source coming out the ground in a spray of hot mist. It was a 3 day fun adventure which ended in a commercial spring in town😊
