Torhiv Village We returned to Ternopil and then came our final, and saddest, day in Ukraine. On our final day we all set off to visit Torhiv, the village where my father was born and where one of his sisters still lives. We went via Virliv, the village where Halya's mother and father Vasyl (my uncle) have a house and they went with us on to Torhiv. It was a sad occasion as another of my aunts, Ivanka, had died just four weeks earlier - leaving just my aunt Sonia at the house in the village.
