So finally we got round to seeing the main attraction in the Cuzco area and the whole of Peru- Machu Picchu. Having seen so many photographs of the place, read so many articles on the place and heard so many people talking about the place, I was a little worried that it would not meet expectations. I was way too cynical. There is a reason why everyone raves about the place, its unique. We caught the train from San Pedro Station at 6.30 am, which meant getting up at 5.00am. It was very cold as the train trundled out of the station. The carrage was full and very cramped. We sat opposite a Venazuelan family with whom we had a very fragmented conversation.
