The Rhino is a Black The rhino is a black. The shape of the mouth is the easiest way to tell. White have a very wide flat mouth, theblack a beak-like shape.
Loving the blog! We've been slack with comments, but we've really enjoyed reading your blog entries. What a fantastic adventure, and the pictures are incredible. I bet your enjoying every moment!
Love Tim, Kate and Tom
OMG... KFC!! Sounds delicously American and unhealthy for an African Boxing Day treat! I can't wait to learn more about the social dynamics of the group one day.
Oh yes, and of course, more about the wild animals and how they lit the watering hole at night...
Great photos and riveting narrative!
Happy New Year Thanks for your latest update. Happy New Year to you both. I hope you're not going to Kenya. I just saw on tonight's news that there is rioting and violence - close on civil war going on there. Tourists are being advised to leave. I don't want you two getting mixed up in something like that!
Take care of yourselves,
Love from Auntie Carrie xx
amazin! Anderson Cooper just did a story on these gorillas that was presented on this past weekend's edition of '60 Minutes' and I for one hope these gorillas bounce back population-wise :)
You need a new raincoat! Hi Daniel!
You must be amazingly fit to have achieved that! I'll have to start going to a gym myself if you think it could do that for me, too.
It's absolutely horrible when you are just as wet inside your coat as outside. I remember that when we went skiing with inadequate gear. See if you can get a goretex raincoat. Goretex breathes and is far more comfortable when you're doing really energetic stuff in the rain. Love Aunty Carrie
Big Wave Surfing Daniel,
I expect to see you in the "Big Wave Surfing Finals" at Mavericks in Half Moon Bay next December...http://www.mavsurfer.com/
You may have to stand up on your board, though;)
What a trip it's been... Hello Daniel,
Your commentary and photos are amazing! It definitley lokks like the trip of a life time. Keep the stories and pics coming. Stay safe and have fun.

BBC on the move Hi Dan and Janice,
Great Blog and summary overview. I will share with my family at christmas. This effort that you have put in here in your blog really shows that you really are living out a dream adventure.
I hope to share these types of adventures with Landen (5years old) as he grows into a little man..........in the mean time the local whistler mountains and Vancouver Rockies will have to suffice our appetite.
Great meeting you both and will enjoy vicariously through the blog.
I did get one of my memory chips which had about 400 photos of the trip but pretty much anything after Inca Trial was lost in the camera on the aerocondor plane......shit.
I will stay in touch and safe travels.

Titicaca I'm very jealous....doing something I can only read about =) I know you wanted to take that little one home. Evanson says "hi" the 2 of them are running around now..and if you hadn't heard Carol's having twins in April!!
Lisette is Adorable! Also, Ben just started walking this past weekend :)
Last but not least, I ask that you please consider taking a minute to envision 'Beavis' (of 'Beavis and Butt-head' TV show fame) saying 'Titicaca' a few times in rapid succession...
glad you are enjoying Daniel and Janice....looks like you guys are having a great time. its nice looking next door and seeing my twin car...other than the major dents on the side and the broken tail pipes, it looks to be in good shape!!!! take care!
Happy Birthday Blog Boy! Happy birthday dan for the 28th - don't know where you'll be, but I'm sure you will be enjoying it! Lots of love,
Mum, Alan and all the family. xxx
Wow! Wow! You two are sure having a wonderful, amazing time. You are becoming very poetical and lyrical in your writing. Perhaps you need never go back to the old grind. Maybe your future lies in travel journalism. All you need is a video camera to become a new breed of international 'Leyland brothers'. You're probably both too young to remember the Leyland Brothers. Anyway keep on sending your stories; I for one, am really enjoying them.
Love,
Aunty Carrie
After almost five years of being happily married, relocating to a different country and many years of continuous work and study, we (the World-Wide Wanderers, Daniel & Janice West) have decided to take some time and go see those parts of the world that we either haven't been to or haven't spent nearly enough time in!!
I look forward to "reporting" our adventures to you over the coming months as we travel South and Central America; South, West and East Africa; the Middle East and Holy Land; India and Nepal; South East Asia; Australia; and Eastern and Central Europe... full info
