Smaller elephants As you are in Italy writing this account I trust you will discover there were miniature elephants (well documented in fossils) in that part of Europe as well as woolly mammoths. You must be having a full experience enjoying the wine and food in those parts to be so far behind in your travelogue. But your audience can wait. Keep on enjoying yourselves.
Fantastic Dan Wow, amazing photos some of my favourite from your trip so far, some many interesting things going on, love them!
Looking forward to catching up for a beer soon!
Help The camp you stayed in looksa awesome - how did you find it and how would we book there. Is it self-catering and how much was it.
How much did you pay for the tour.
We are going to Botswana soon and need to do the trip on a shoestring budget - any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks so much
Amazing Stuff Amazing stuff Daniel and Janice, sorry to hear Janice still isn't 100% and how annoying about the show not being on.
The photos are fantastic, the snow in the desert, the sunset! Top stuff.
Walk like an Egyptian Dan,

Beard Growth Uncle Dan,
You look like you have let your beard go 'castaway' style...
Hope you and janice are both well, when did you say you would be coming back thfouh Im not sure IM here I fly to oz in a week!
x Mel
Another great entry Great stuff Dan, nice collection of photos and commentary, you've put my to shame I've only managed one published entry and that was the flight over, I need to get my act together!
Awesome Hey Dan,
Truly inspiring stuff, I wanted to go before, but now I think I won't be satisfied until I've done it myself (mind you a years worth of training and loosing 20-30kg might not hurt). Compared to other hikes, how does this rate physically ? The toughtest you've ever done, does it make Sinai look like a walk in the park ?
Certainly looks and sounds gruelling, but absolutely worth it.
Cheers,
Craig
Fishawi's I had tea at Fishawi's 20 years ago, is my name still carved in the table? Funny thing, they said it was 200 years old back then, I don't reckon anyone knows for sure. Sounds like a great trip, thanks for the blog
Graham
p.s. is Graham loves Sally still carved on Khafre?
You Lucky Things - Just Amazing Dan and Janice,
You luck ducks, this looks like such an amazing place and the photos are just gorgeous I'm insanely jealous right now!
I want a full English breakfast under a tree one day... ...and I am in no way "lion" about it.
Way to go Janice for not winding up with malaria -- bonus!
You guys look lovely out there :)
I love bar (Zanzi). I could feel certain elevatations in the level of your combined accomodation happiness throughout this entry. The history of Zanzibar seems tangible, and the church/mosque photo is indeed (as they say) worth a thousand words...
After almost five years of being happily married, relocating to a different country and many years of continuous work and study, we (the World-Wide Wanderers, Daniel & Janice West) have decided to take some time and go see those parts of the world that we either haven't been to or haven't spent nearly enough time in!!
I look forward to "reporting" our adventures to you over the coming months as we travel South and Central America; South, West and East Africa; the Middle East and Holy Land; India and Nepal; South East Asia; Australia; and Eastern and Central Europe... full info
