Doug turned 18. It seems unreal. I woke up to emails from our insurance and pharmacy that I no longer had access to his information. We went by the Space Center in Huntsville, but did not go in since there was only an hour left until it closed. Instead we went to see Ant Man. Then we went out to eat at Mellow Mushroom and got an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen.... read more

We went deep sea fishing for red snapper. Doug did not want to go with us so he stayed in the van. We parked it in the shade. He left it on and had the Xbox and TV with him. He also had lots of snacks so he was totally fine! There were about 50 people on the boat. The captain told us that we would be splitting all the fish equally. This worked out great because Robert was the only one from our group who got any fish. They were large fish though! ... read more

Today was our 24th wedd anniversary. It seems we are usually on vacation when its our anniversary. We spent day looking at the fort on Gulf Shores and floating in the ocean. Found out later that there were warning flags out for jellyfish. Luckily none of us were stung! We ate dinner at a great place called Beach Picnic. It had BBQ and ribs. The food was fantastic! they had board games and card games lying around. We played Jenga, old maid, and Uno. It was a very nice dinner. ... read more

We were told by several friends to take a samp tour. I am so glad we did. It was great! We saw so many alligators. There was even an alligator gaurding It’s nest. The guides had trained the alligators to eat marshmallows. They said it was hard to get them to eat the first one, but once they have one they are hooked. The day was pretty hot, but the rain held off for the most part. Our guide was very knowledgeable. He was an older gentleman who grew up there. He talked about why they don’t give tours through the marshes anymore and how it contributed to erosion. We didn’t get any bug bites or alligator bites so it was a good trip! ... read more

We drove into New Orleans in the late morning. We walked through Jackson Square. There were bands playing jazz music. It was very neat. Then the first stop was Cafe Du Monde. We had beignets and cafe au lait. It was very crowded. The cafe was cash only. The waiters paid the cooks for the food when they picked it up from the kitchen. Then you paid the waiter in cash. I’m assuming their pay was the difference in how much the cost of the food was in the kitchen and what the customer paid them for the food. Next we went to the waterfront. Then into the St Louis Cathedral. We spent about an hour in the Louisiana State Museum. Then we ate a great lunch at the Gumbo Shop. After lunch we walked down ... read more

We spent the day at Six Flags Fiesta Texas. We had a great time! It wasn’t as hot today as it was yesterday. We had a great time riding roller coasters and eating lots of junk food. The amusement park is set in an old rock quarry. It was a little different. The fireworks they had at the end of the day were surprisingly good. We were not expecting that. It was also interesting in that we got stuck for short periods of time on two different rides. Thankfully that didn’t last long, ... read more
