Hello. My name is Giovanni Bruno. Born in the year 1098, I was born into a peasant family in the city of Amalfi. However, I was able to rise the ranks in society to become a merchant. I've been a merchant now for over 10 years and I've had the opportunity to travel all around the world! I mostly trade along the other nearby city-states. However, I occasionally get to take very long trips to the Roman Empire. I love to see all the different cultures and how amazing each one of them are. One of my favorite sights to see is the grand cathedral, the Hagia Sophia, in the capital of the Roman Empire, Constantinople. I'm currently preparing for my next trip, to Venice. The trip to Venice will certainly be a long one. I have to travel all around the coast to get to the city. However, Venice is one of my favorite cities in the world. It's so much bigger than Amalfi, which is much smaller compared to the size of Venice. I hope one day I can move to Venice. However, my wife and three kids seem to prefer it here in Amalfi. It could be the beautiful beaches or the amazing views of the mountains that they like so much, but they've never been to Venice before. I hear rumors from other merchants that you can actually buy silk there. Perhaps I'll be able to find some there. Anyhow, I have to finish packing my vessel for the journey. By the time I get back, I hope I can be as rich as the merchants in Venice. I may be 34 years old, but I am certainly ready for the strenuous voyage ahead.

Finally! After traveling on my vessel now for more than a month, I've finally arrived in the marvelous city of Venice. It is simply one of the greatest cities in the whole world. Everywhere around me, I see marvelous structures and architecture. In fact, I think I can see the St. Mark's Basilica from here. Anyhow, I have to start setting up my shop here in Venice. I'm selling spices, groceries, and wine that we imported in Amalfi from all around the world. There is a lot of competition here. Seems like everyone from around the world has come to Venice to sell their goods here. I see people from Constantinople, India, and even some from China. Venice sits on the most important trade routes in the world, the Silk Road. So obviously, it is very ... read more

Hey there again! I've realized it's been quite a while since my last update. I can tell that I'm getting very close to Venice. Though I'm not entirely sure how far Venice is from here, I'm just following the coast line until we reach the grand city. Would be nice to have a tool of sort to help with this... Anyways, I recently found out that a crew mate of mine has actually been to Venice before. He says it's a beautiful place full of people from around the world. He told me a story about meeting up with a merchant from the Middle East who was a Muslim. From my past, I've always heard poor things about them. But my crew mate insists he was one of nicest people he's ever met. I hope that ... read more

After 2 months of planning this trip, I am just about ready to set sail. I've said goodbye to my wife and kids, checked inventory, and prepared my crew for the voyage ahead. My crew and I are currently shipping over some of the freshest produce in all of the land. Competition is quite hard in a city as large as Venice. So we need to stand out from the crowd to be able to sell all our good. We're also bringing over some of the rarest spices from a far away land called India. I recently purchased these spices at a hefty price from a merchant who claims that he's traveled all the way to India and back with these spices. I hope that I'll can make a profit from the spices so I can ... read more
