Wow!
I haven't seen you that excited about your travels for a while. Can you visit & show Andy, the boys & I your lemur photos & videos when you get back?
17th August 2015

I love lemurs too!
It sounds as if you had lots of fun! Madagascar has been on my list forever, maybe one day I'll finally follow your steps and go play with the lemurs. King Julien is one of my favourite characters... I like to move it, move it!

So Beautiful!
I always wanted to go to Madagascar and finally after my husband died and I was just about ready to go they had a coup. I ended up in Nepal where I've lived for almost 5 years. Your blog post seems to have awakened my interest in Madagascar. Thanks so much. Looks like you are having a wonderful time there. So beautiful. My blog is FrugalTravelsNepal.Blogspot.com Come see us in Nepal.

You didn't happen to see any plane parts lying about did you?

That's a negative
Hey Andrea, that was on the other coast!

Five weeks of island hopping!
Fabulous start to what sounds like a fabulous holiday! How great to fulfill a dream and walk with lions. I once helped raise 5 lions cubs--even as babies, they were incredibly powerful. Beautiful beaches and tropical paradises--heaven!

Sounds wonderful! Could do with some beautiful beach weather and yummy Creole curries in this chilly Sydney winter...also, boys miss playing with you

I am so happy that you enjoyed Mauritius, warms my heart : )

Your loss was my gain
A pleasant surprise for me that I was going to get to meet you after all, a lovely evening it was! Don't suppose all those passport stamps are on the same page? That would make a great photo for this entry. I had a case at work the next day of someone who was trying to get back from Tonga, they were telling me about the planes that flew over the airport but couldn't land - thought of you up there in that plane!

What a saga!
At least there was a nice ending to the story...and you got to meet Jo! Looking forward to reading about Tonga Take-Two.

That sounds actually quite funny reading about it... not for those stuck at the airport, I guess!

That's the craziest travel story I've ever heard...
Glad it was you and not me! Jo is a wonderful hostess in Auckland. We also shared dinner with her...actually two..one Thai followed by Italian. But that's another story.

All wasn't lost!
How great that you got to meet Jo, end up in Fiji at mud baths and weren't so pressed for time that it was a disaster. Sad for those Tongans that had to stay in the airport for days and couldn't get home. And as always, bad experiences made good stories. Happy travels!

Ring a ring a rosie
Nothing like Mother Nature ruling when & where on a trip Tom. Even better when its a volcano. Seems obvious you were thus destined to meet Jo Trouble and Mother Nature had a part to play in that too!

Oh Tommy ... I cant help but laugh
Tonga was just teasing you surely...shes waiting for you I'm sure. A true testament to the resilience of travelers......but your story really takes the cake. The positive of catching up with the wonderful Jo Trouble makes up a little for the negatives....next time you are heading for Tonga, let me know, I only cause earthquakes and tsunamis and minor volcanic eruptions...you seem to have the volcano juju strong inside you :)

Samoa
You've been traveling on the island circuit for a while now. We are very jealous. This one sounds grand. Rich in history. Sounds like you've found your groove. We'd love to see you write a blog comparing the Caribbean islands to the South Pacific since you've done them back to back. It would be great to hear your impressions of the similarities and differences. The personalities of these parts of the world, history and culture.

Talofa Tom, this brings back memories of my travels to Samoa many years ago. Enjoy.

Fantastic
The best of it, it seems to me..., is that the whole place has not been spoiled yet.

The beautiful Blue Lagoon

The beautiful Blue Lagoon
The Blue Lagoon is in fact artificial and was made as an over-spill pool for the adjacent Svartsengi geothermal power station. And when electricity and the heat has been generated from the water, it is then pushed into the lagoon

Memories fade
Memories sometimes fad but the impression and warm feelings do not. Glad you felt like you were visiting an old friend again. Sounds like a grand time and glad going back was so positive.
