I have lived in Aberdeen all my life and now want to explore the world. I am excited to experience new things and meet new people. Other than travelling I am passionate about sport and in particular football.

The second half of my trip in new zealand started with a ferry between the two which had some stunning views. Our first stop down the coast was in Abel Tasmin national park. I did a sky dive here which was absolutely unreal. I was last to go so having seen all the other groups do it my nerves were going a little. Once you get in the plane and you are strapped to you partner you lose all control. The moment when you leave the plane is such a good feeling. Amazing. The next morning a did a canoe trip around part of the national park. It was a really cool little trip as well. From there we continued on the bus down to a place just past greymouth which is a little hostel run ... read more

It has been a while since my last entry but that is becasue I have been s busy I have hardly had a chance. Anyway I started by heading north out of auckland and up to bay of islands. I did a really cool canoe trip up there around the islands. We stopped in a shallow part and jumped out and picked a bunch of pippis (small mussels) out of the sand before canoeing to one of the islands and steaming them up right there. So tasty. I only spent the one day up there before coming back to Auckland and onto hot water beach. We had a really small bus of people, only eleven of us in a 54 seater bus, but it was a fun group. On hot water beach the name says it ... read more

I have finished my time is australia now so will update you all on what happened in my final week and a half. The next stop down the coast was fraser island which is the worlds largest sand island. It is an amazing place. I did a tour where you went round in a big bus through tranks all over the island. I did 3 days there. The first day we went to a pretty cool lake where we relaxed in the sun and went for a dip before going on a walk through a section of rainforest. It is really weird to be walking through rainforest on sand. We ahd a really layed back fun group pf people which was ace. i got on particularly well with one korean guy Danny (i can't pronounce his ... read more

Time for an update on australia so far. I am just over halfway through my time here and it has been amazing. I started up north in cairns. On my first night there I was sharing a room with a guy from Glasgow and eventually ended up on a night out with 5 scottish guys. Just like home apart from being out in shorts. Cairns is a really chilled place and we had a good night out. There was a barbeque organised by the hostel where I got to try Kangaroo, which is very nice - a bit like a mix of venison and beef, Emu, which was alright - a little like lamb and crocodile which was not great - more like chicken but less nice. Anyway in Cairns I also did a tour out ... read more

I have finished my 10 days in Japan and had an amazing experience. The first highlight of my trip was the day I spent exploring Tokyo city. I went to the tjsuki fish market which is the worlds largest fish market. It was rediculous, like a crazy asda but only sellinng fish. If you could think of a type of fish you would be almost garaunteed to find it there and if you made a fish up you would probably find it there as well. Next I made a stop at the Tokyo pokemon centre which was a massive let down. I was expecting another asda sized builiding full of pokemon but it was the size of a corner shop and only had new pokemon I didn't recognise. I went to Shibuya which is a famous ... read more

It has been a while since I last updated so this could be a long update. I have been very busy recently. The football in Pisac has been better. Nico and I have been put in charge of a group of about 10 and have been allowed to do what ever we wanted pretty much, which has much more fun. We try to do some new works they don’t normally do which they seem to quite enjoy. Football in Calca and Cusco are still good as well. I have been working regularly with the same group in Cusco, which I quite like because I have gotten to know them. They are not particularly good but are really fun to work with. They are all about 11 or 12. Most recently though I have been working with ... read more

I have now been in Peru for just over 1 month now. There are only 3 volunteers in Pisac now, almost of all of them have gone home for christmas. Over the last couple of weeks I have been coaching more in Calca and Cusco than in Pisac which I prefer because I get to coach more independently. The kids are not as good but I find them more fun. I also di a session with some of the older players 16-17 and joined inas mOne weekend recently I trekked up the Pisac ruins with an american volunteer called Tom. I get on really well with hiuch as playing which was nice for change. although he has just finished today actually. The ruins in Pisac were amazing. They were so much bigger than they looked from ... read more

I had my first training session in Calca which is about 30 minutes by bus from pisac. It was one of my favourite sessions so far despite the children having the attention spans of a gold fish. I suppose I’ll let them off though seeing as they were only 5 and 6. Anyway, me and Nico were in charge of 10 kids and we organised a few dribbling, shooting and passing drills with various levels of success although the kids seemed to enjoy themselves whatever which was good. That evening I went out with Jose (a brother) and his wife Suzy and daughter Ariana to a chicken restaurant owned by his cousin. Was really nice apart from the chicken foot in my soup which I did not particularly enjoy. Slimy outside crunchy inside. Weird! Don’t recommend ... read more

The last few days have been good. Met some other volunteers. On Friday I went to Cusco to coach there. The kids there are not as talented but they are probably more fun. I worked with the kids aged 4-6 approximately. I helped with a number of drills/games that they seemed to enjoy. They also didn’t seem to care or notice that my Spanish was not great and just talked randomly. Really enjoyed it! On Saturday it was Rebecca’s (one of the other volunteers) last day so a about 8 of us met for pancakes at a café called the blue llama. It was all you can eat for 8 soles (approx £2). They were really good! This where I met most people and was invited to a BBQ in Urumbamba in that evening which is ... read more

It is nice to be finally blogging from Peru! It was a very long journey but I did eventually make it. My flights all went to plan which was very nice although the zip of my rucksack did break in madrid meaning I had to carry it like a football for the rest of the trip. A bit of a faff but oh well. When I did get to Cusco we drove to Urumbamba to drop of a different volunteer which I thick is further from pisac than cusco but never mind. The drive was actually quite fun. Got to see some of the spectacular building and scenery in Peru. I have not taken many photos yet but I have plenty of time for that. Took a couple from the plane but you can't see much. ... read more
