Absolutely beautiful photos. If this just a little bit of what you saw, I would be taking photos left and right!

Eagles, bears and porcupines...Oh My
Sorry I haven't written but caught up today. Basically you are right about the eagles, they are large carrion eaters just like the gulls or the vultures. But they are magnificent. I never realized how much trouble a porcupine could cause though. That was a bit of new info. Glad you are getting warmer, especially from a Texas "kid" who isn't used to it being quite that cold. Stay warm and safe for the rest of your journey.

See brother Steve? Bald eagles = purdy vultures :)

Freezing
I have lived in Florida for 40 years which is longer than I lived in Michigan. I visited Michigan this February and was not acclimating! I keep my AC set to 82 degrees. I don't know how I survived in Michigan!

Warm
I am so glad you have warmer weather. I got cold reading your blog before you left the US! But I live in Florida. I think I would have turned into a Popsicle on this trip.
14th May 2016

You grew up in Michigan! I bet that if you went back in winter that you would be acclimated in only a few days to snow, ice and freezing temperatures. :)

Wolves
Dollars to donuts all 3 of the wolves you saw are all the same species. The so-called grey wolves come in colors of black, grey, and white. Just sayin.....
13th May 2016

I'll take your word on it. You are much more the wolf expert than I am.

Spoilers
Everyone knows it was the professor's estranged Russian wife, recently escaped from Siberia. The clues were all right there in the study!

Ohhhh, I had thought it was the infatuated student in a fit of jealous rage over another student. I didn't think the ex cared. Good to know.

Bald Eagles
Bald Eagles are NEVER!!! a problem. They are magnificant. Just my 2 cents lol
9th May 2016

I didn't say they where. It was just an observation. I know you loved those carrion eating overgrown seagulls. :)

That picture didn't download :( P. S. You don't have to send me private messages when you answer my question. They don't download well.

Hello again
Some of your pictures have been awesome. You se these pictures in magazines or on TV but when you know someone who has actually seen them, it just makes it that much more impressive. Your "friends" are interesting as well. The eagle Sam was great.

sleeping bag
Not to worry, you haven't done anything to it that hasn't already been done to it, enjoy.

Sam the Eagle
Hard to see the eagle unless you enlarge the picture. Glad he (she?) didn't poo on you. Be quite a clean-up, lol!
7th May 2016

Yea, I know it's hard. Several times on this trip, I wish I brought my good DSLR camera with all the lenses. But I kinda of glad I didn't. I'm trying not to get caught up in the moment making the perfect picture. I'm shooting wiley niley.:)

Um, Where are you?
Haven't read any blog entries from you in a couple days. No contact at fishing holes? Missing the wonderful entries and pictures!

Barrow
Don't stay too long in barrow if it's dark! You've survived bears and wolves! Hate to have to say you died from vampires on your trip!

Arctic Tour
Hey, you finally got it in gear! Was that a 1000 mile day? Hopefully your Arctic tour will be open...the Prudhoe Bay Deadhorse Camp website says the arctic ocean shuttle is only available between May 24 and September 18.
1st May 2016

I'll have to probably do that out of Barrow which has full ocean access with no restrictions.
