What a fantastic blog! All I can say is it is a blooming good job I am reading AFTER the events! Susie, what are you like? You always did like playing with fire even when you were very young - but dynamite, now you are taking the p**s! Matt how could you let her? I love the pictures and the stories that go with them. I bet Rambo is thinking of changing his name - you don't mess with Suze!!!!!
I guess after reading Carol's blog you are really keen to get back home to all the fun of working life that you have been missing!!!!! Can't wait to see you on Saturday - have a safe journey home - please just taken the conventional route ....... No detours down mountainous roads, or little jet planes that land on grass runways, no paragliding and FOR GOODNESS SAKE DON'T JUMP OUT THE PLANE UNTIL IT HAS LANDED!!!!!!
Lots of love to you both mum/Sylvia xxxxxxxxxxx
hey you two! Your travelblog is great! We should be doing something like that! We´re in Mendoza at the moment. Paddy was thinking of doing paragliding but now he really wants to do it after reading your blog...not sure if I should be thanking you or not for that! I´m sure I´ll be dragged along. Def gonna cycle around to the wineries. So glad to hear that you postponed your trip a little...will give you a bit of extra time to relax & see a little more, work on the tan etc. Can´t wait to head to Buenos Aires & hopefully see Boca Juniors...think we´ll be giving the tango classes a miss as well! Susie you´re so funny the way you write...Matt you´re NOT old, don´t listen to her! Makes us miss hearing all your stories. Can´t believe the German called you ´handicapped´ for being a veggie. I´m getting plenty of ´veggie´ sandwiches with steak and ham in them as well...nightmare! Oh well eggs, eggs, and more eggs! Keep in touch...We´ll be emailing! Safe trip home xxx
Blog and photos Thanks to both of you for providing me with such great entertainment on a freezing cold (although very sunny) Friday morning. I almost choked on my Weetabix more than once! The way the two of you write makes me feel as if I'm actually there (although I'm very glad I'm not - I'm much too fond of my home comforts!) and the photos are fantastic. Can't wait to see you both and hear all about your adventures 'in the flesh'. Better meet up at your mum's though, what with my flat being on the fifth floor - don't want anyone throwing up over the balcony, do we Matt?
Have a safe journey home. See you next week!
Lots of love, (Aunty) Janice xxx
A natural Horseman Brilliant. You look like one of the horsemen of the apocolypse! I can just see the locals talking about your Iain Dowie t-shirt now - "Hey Paulo, this Englishman must love himself, he's got a self portrait on his chest". Surely can't just be the camera either as Suze seems to look good in all the pics she's in. Very strange! Now if anyone thinks I'm being harsh towards Matthew - this is just a bit of payback for the photos Maf has seen of me where I look a bit 'simple'. Rather look simple than look like the tortoise on the old British Gas adverts!! Take care of yourselves, see you in a while.
Isla Del Sol Hi guys, must concur with Carol, I couldn't work out who was in the photo with Suz either. Thought maybe you had found one of those 'crazy' passport photo style kiosks that super-impose movie characters. Have you seen Indiana Jones' Last Crusade when that bloke drinks from the wrong goblet and he ages in about 3 seconds? Uncanny! Also hate to say it but these blogs HAVE been well written. How wasted you were as Darren Styles b*tch for all those years!! Take care and don't get too excited Maff but I'm keeping the bench warm for the Reserves for you on the 17th (beat top of the league 1-0 on Sat with PJ getting sent off - brilliant). Look after yourselves and I'll catch you later.
Hi guys - blog is great and love photos. Please send more! So scared of you though Maf, you look paler than ever - also does the climate in S.America stop hair growth? Why hasn't your hair grown??? I Seriously was looking at the picture of you and my sis titled: Isla del Sol, Bolivia and was thinking who is that standing next to her, I decided it must be a fellow female traveller who you had be-friended. After several days I realised it was you...no. Anyway - it all looks brilliant and so glad you are having the best time - only two weeks to go now you must be gutted but I can't wait to see you both and hear all about it - Suz I'll try to not get bored when you tell me the same story 26 times naaaa love you. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Two skill travellers Hi there, I love your blogg ---- very very funny and was laughing out loud. I like the story about the scorpion, I can just imagaine you both waiting to see if the guide wakes up in the morning, then totally loving the fact that he has so you can have your pancakes !! It sounds like an amazing trip and I love the photos. Maff --- perhaps you could try and get a job as a travel writer when you get back as I'm very impressed by your English language skills (seriously). Can't wait to hear more. Lots of love from Jules and Sam xxx
Been there been there been there! Been there been there been there Been there been there been there Been there been there been there Been there been there been there before you!!!!
Part 2 Hi you two - great to read about your adventures and see the pictures at the same time. Matt, pleeeeeeease let you hair grow before you come home, the picture of you hooked up to the drip was a little worrying - you looked like someone from the film "One flew over the cuckoos nest". As much as I have always wanted t swim with dolphins (pink or otherwise) and would have loved for you to do it Susie, I am so glad you decided the boat was the safer option. Alligators and crocodiles just seem to take the edge of the idea! Have fun, stay healthy and safe - can't wait to see you both on the 4th. The M25 is a piece of cake compared to "THE ROAD" love the traffic lights, hope nobody sleeps on the job! Mum/Sylvia xxxx ;) :)
Wellity wellity I think your blog is brilliant. It's such a great way to share what you're up to and the picture are fantastic. I can't wait for the next instalment, it's like an exciting serial on the telly. Scorpions, dangerous roads, lager-induced retching.. whatever next? You will end up staying away forecer in a Hemingway-like expatriot existence. Keep those stories coming. Best love xx
Eastern European Refugee No joke, I had to check 3 times that I was on the right site. I thought the link you gave me had taken me to an eastern european prisoner of war website. You are without doubt the most disgusting male I have ever laid eyes on! I have to say that for once in my life I agree with Darren Styles [BTW Darren, when you retreated to your Bentley, did you bib the horn eight times and shout out "I'm here"?].
Anyway, looks like yous two are having the best time ever. I am scared of myself because I was so jealous looking at the pictures I found myself getting stressed! I don't know why: Reigate is beautiful this time of year, and I do a trek everyday down Reigate Hill. Is there somewhere on here I can upload my photos?
Jenno, sorry for the lack of Newton reports. It took me 2 hours to compose the last one, so the thought of writing more have filled me with dread. You'll be pleased to know that things have picked up considerably in the last 2 weeks. We beat Camblewick Green 4 and 2 two weeks ago, and Central Sussex College 6-0 last week. Selected highlights are:
1. 15 minutes before Trumton game we only had 10 men. Luckily A Beattie then turned up, followed by El Pesto who sat on the bench (and did come on for 10!)
2. We were two nil down against those gypos after 20 minutes. Quote from Mitchell "The only time they dont look like scoring is when the ball is in the net already"
3. Lazarus comeback coincided with absolute headloss from their team, who had 2 sent off in the space of 2 minutes. Nathan then scored "Goal A". Blockbuster right foot half volley from 20 yards, top jagger.
4. If we thought they were gypos, CSC topped that. What a bunch of 01293 reprobates. All they wanted to do was fight and moan. We should have won at least 14 nil.
5. Isom and one of their blokes got sent off near the end. In the words of Isom "He kicked me, then when I turned round he was coming at me with his head, so I went at him with my head too". That was handbags really, but then the bloke upcut Isom in right eye - 10 stitches required. The ref sent him off, then consulted with their linesman (what a joke) before sending Neil off.
6. At the end of the game we were all proper stressed with the ref and them, but just walked off. But when I looked over at their touchline, Dobs was amongst all their players and ref arguing!
7. Forgot this, 5 minutes into game, Bentley was told "F off grandad"! That was followed by whole Newton team laughing.
That'll do for now. My name is goff and I'm off.
Take care yeah. Speak to both of you soon. Ciao. XX
You two are crazy! Thank you so much for making me laugh at 9.30am on a Friday morning. (I should be working but ......)
I'm so glad your guide survived long enough to cook you pancakes for breakfast. What a disaster if he'd snuffed it leaving you hungry!
I'm also very glad I didn't know about the trip down the world's most dangerous road. Susie - you know what I was like when you were going to Camberwell on your own so can you imagine how many kittens I'd have been having if I'd known about this little adventure in advance?
It's great to hear that you're both having such a wonderful time (give or take a few blisters, a dose of dysentry and some dodgy beer!) Love seeing the photos and can't wait to see you both and hear the full gory details.
Look after yourselves and I know you probably don't want to hear this but....... see you soon(ish!)
Lots of love
Janice xx
Road Read about that road, it's quite famous and the pictures look worse than the description (which is terrible, one car plunges off the side every week apparently).
Glad you made Titicaca and La Paz which are definately worth seeing.
James
Greetings from Blighty This blog is a brilliant idea and the photos are excellent. Hope you have both recovered from blisters and dysentery. Nothing nearly as exciting as your adventures to report. The days are shortening, the rain is falling, the robins are singing their little feathery hearts out. My birthday was earlier this week and went to Tate Modern to an exhibition, then out for drinks and a meal with the family. But it ain't Macchu Pichu. I look forward to the next instalment. xx Linda
Goon Lagoon Suze, Jenns,
Fantastic photos. I've never seen anything like it - what a haircut. Do not have a number 0 again as you look like you've been sectioned.
The trek looks amazing, though. Have a great time kids and drink in every minute.
And will you stop shitting for five minutes please.
Love,
Gellard
