Health-Brigade in Ecuador

a trip by Stephanie
From: May 12th 2007
Until: May 19th 2007

Stephanie spent 10 days in Ecuador volunteering with the Timmy Foundation and Shoulder-to-Shoulder Ecuador to open a health-care clinic in Santo Domingo de los Colorados. I traveled with a team of doctors, pharmacists and med students from the University of Kentucky to fund, supply and staff a week long medical brigade to the community where I provided nutrition screening and counseling. We also toured through Quito, Otavalo and Mindo.

The health care clinic is now fully staffed by a local Ecuadorian nurse practitioner and part-time dentist and also serves as training facility for Kentucky and Quito medical students.
