love it I really love the fact that you take the time to write thes e. and that you put so much information into them as being a person who is never been overseas I think it's really neat to be able to see the pictures and learn information to maybe plan a trip over there one day. :-)
How are the mighty fallen! That is terrible about the pool tax and all the other foolish bennies those losers have become accustomed to. The Eurozone needs to kick their butts! Thanks for all the background!
Wow! Heart-rending! Thanks for relating all that history. That is so funny that you met Dax before. The first Australian Shepherd I met was named Dax. He used to jump in the back of people's cars at our apartments. He disappeared one day. I'm sure someone found him and thought someone had dumped him. He was beautiful and a very sweet dog, so I believe things worked out for him.
Must be something in our DNA! I'm rereading this when i couldn't find any new posts. In the meantime I've done a lot of reading and discovered that the first Guy de Laval was an Italian -- apparently one who never wanted to see Italy again either!
And some of our ancestors went and kicked butt in Italy. It must be some karmic thing!
You know I'd boycotted Italy since 1975. I find their capricious childishness intolerable. I'm so sorry that you had to deal with it all by yourself. I also had a Pompeii visit go wrong, but in a rare grace note, the guard took pity on me when I burst into tears when he told me they were closing at 4:00 (instead of 6:00 - it's an Italian thing) that he showed us around, even unlocking the off-limits brothel for us.
Things were better on this trip. I only had one annoying Italians day in Pisa out of 5 we spent in Italy, but I credit most of that with traveling by cruise ship instead of on Italian trains. Need to give a shout-out to the metro Rome trains!
You can't go back to Constantinople! So glad you had a great time in Istanbul. I read alot about the Crusades before we left. They said the pilgrims were absolutely blown away by the glittering beauty and hugeness of Istanbul. Even Paris was no great shakes in the Dark Ages.
Are you signing with your left hand at the wishing stone?
I like the photo of you in your hoodie. Hope your socks didn't offend!
Happy you are off to a great start!! I hope Europe brings to all the answers you are searching. I have a new number, which you can get from Stacy when you get back. Wish we could have talked before you left, but Chris and I got into a motorcycle accident. Healing now, but I while I'm recovering I enjoy your blogs :-)
It wasn't a hat - I was Anne Boleyn! I'm glad you have your Chunky Monkey to keep you company. And Mamoo will be glad to know that you're enjoying (or not) the Swiss Army knife bag. Maybe they thought you were Jane Bond or something.
It's weird for me to read your entries with all the boo-boo's like a non-Language Arts teacher, but I accept your excuse.
Sorry about the Globe. I had the same thing happen in 1999, but I had forgotten.
Remember, you can't go back to Constantinople!
Love,
Mom
did you see the cliffs at the beaches where they climbed up? can you imagine scaling up this HUGE cliffs only to be shot at your whole way up by germans at the top?
Povera signorina! Oh, Sweetie! I'm so sorry to hear of your tribulations. It so reminds me of the six weeks I spent in Italy - and why I never want to set foot it in it again. It is a country run by kindergarteners! Clocks mean nothing to those people - except the ones who told us that Pompeii closed at 4:00 and we had to leave! Thank God, our guard was the nicest man in Italy and when I cried with disappointment, he took us on the X-rated tour of the bordello and most beautiful interiors!
The most important thing is that you are safe - just remember that. When you think you're at rock-bottom, just remember you haven't been hurt or had anything more than your passport stolen.
Post more pictures! I love seeing your beautiful face in faraway places, but can't wait to see it home soon!
XOXO
Hello What About the Girls Hey you can make out there with my emails all the time. We Miss You Biatch. Come back. I wish I could come, that festival sounds like fun!!!
So proud of you I am so proud of you. You are so much braver than I am. Thankfully German is not the most difficult language to learn. Of course, I do not speak a word of it! I know you will have fun with Mom and Mamoo. Mamoo showed up at my house on Monday with cooler glasses than I wear! Now that is just wrong! Love you!
umm So maybe I'm out of the loop. Why are you in Germany? How long will you be there? *hugs* I have a friend in Austria... Maybe I should give you contact info or something? I also have a great book on German culture and such. Ordered from Amazon. Want the title?
Love the profile pic, those are my bed covers! haha.
Did you lose the same ring you lost and I found in the arcade in Georgia? What awful luck you have with jewelry!
This looks like a fun blog, I look forward to keeping up with you!
Ich liebe dich! Hi, Honey~
Love your posts! You are so beautiful, I can't believe you're not besieged with friends! You are totally going to have at least one friend by Oktoberfest! Smart move to go to the library, but yeah, you're gonna need to stay late if you wanna read Harry Potter auf deutsch! Better stick with One Fish, Two Fish for now! I love Spidercarly!
.. Just a small greeting from Copenhagen. I enjoy your posts.. good stuff ;).
Is Danish really the 2nd hardest language to learn? Sounds crazy, but I hope you keep on learning.
The car taxes really are ridiculous. I am planning on buying a new car later this year, and because of the taxes it's the equivalent of around 65.000 US$ :(.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your stay. Take care.
languages over there are crazy! Isn't amazing how many different languages everyone else in the world seems to speak. Kinda like the joke...What do you call somebody who speaks 3 languages (trilingual) What do you call someone who speak 2? (bilingual) What do you call someone who speaks one language? An American....a canadian told me that and I laughed...but it's almost sad how true it is! Enjoy your last few weeks over there!!!
I'm up to speed Hi Carly, I'm up to speed on your blog and have enjoyed reading about your exploits. Go with the flow and have fun, but be careful. When you go to Amsterdam you might see the Heineken brewrey. I had a beer at a sidewalk cafe across from the brewery when I was 16. I sat there for an hour looking at the Euro girls.
rarr Darling I love you, but if you drove anything like you drive in America, rest his soul! i'm glad your having a good time...and I think a few people here also ready this bloggy thingy. Did he buy a car just for this trip?? I'm confused. ~ Em
I'm so jealous! ;-p I hate you with the heat of one thousand suns... And love you too!

Take Care & Huggles

I am a teacher by trade and traveler by heart. Luckily my trade allows me to follow my heart :) Currently using my two month break to travel Europe and see the sites I missed on my last two trips. I write them quickly and on my ipad (usually) so please forgive the horrible writing mistakes. I will fix them at home when I don't have to pay for internet and have less interesting things to do :)... full info
