Hi Tommye and Patrick -- can't believe you super-prepared folks didn't bring a flashlight, but our son taught us this neat trick if you have an IPhone 6. Once you hit the home button, pull up the screen from the bottom. You'll see a flash
light icon on the bottom left corner. It's very bright. Love the blog! Maine is glorious and I'm jealous that it looks relatively uncrowded. We are so lucky to live in a country with such variety. Enjoy and be safe!

Chowder, Indian pudding? A New Englander would never have tomatoes in chowder. In Colonial days, it was considered "filling" and would merit time in the stocks if served (or so the legend goes).I see two diet candidates when we both return
to St. Louis.

Tommye - I loved hearing about your trip up my beloved N.E. coast - all your stops and the photos have made me have a serious case of "homesickness."So glad you are enjoying the sites and sounds - the great seafood and the place that has be
en important in our history for hundreds of years. There is certainly more to come as you make your way North. Enjoy! Thanks again.

Terrific update. If near Wiscasset you must go to Red's Eats, a shack near the bridge. Great Lobster Rolls and very popular. Also, Moody's Diner in Waldoboro is a favorite of locals.

Sorry I didn't warn you about Old Orchard Beach. It was a disappointing out of the way stop. Well, we didn't stop. Nothing to stop for. It does draw lots of people for the Coney Island type experience all summer. Not sure why but the b
eaches are beautiful. Camden, Rockland ahead are lovely. Take a 4 masted sailing ship out of Camden harbor. We did The Surprise. 2.5 hours on the water was lovely.

Hi T., Sounds absolutely fantastic. I did take a cruise from Nova Scotia to NYC in 2002. Ended at the World Trade Center site where, as you know and i know you have seen, 3,00 souls evaporated. It was extremely moving as you can imagine
. I am sure you have been there but this was one year to the date. One year earlier our trip was cancelled. I loved it all but dearly loved Nova Scotia. Mostly for its quaintness. Be sure you see the part of the ocean where the tide is like 40 ft. Most amazing. Love to you both and have a wonderful and safe trip. Thanks for being the worlds greatest tour guide. I think you should write a book or some books. Your narrative is spectacular!!

I have a friend who went to a tango club and loved it last year. I'm sure concierge can help.

I am enjoying your blog so much getting ready for our Tauck Essence trip Jan 30th. My husband and I have had 3 tango lessons so far preparing to actually dance in Argentina. Doubt that we will be doing any of those fancy steps, but it sur
e is a beautiful dance!
25th November 2014

Your comment about the 2 hr tango show is very helpful. I too would rather go to a small intimate tango club and watch real people dance....and try my hand at it. I'm sure the hotel can provide suggestions for a night club, right? (That'
s safe, of course.)

Too funny, Patrick!

Tommye, the best trip ever! Wish I was there. You are by far the greatest organizer and find the most wonderful trips. I always dreamed of South America after Amanda live there while filming for 3 months. Your blog was incredible and pi
ctures amazing. Annie should send the last day pic out as a Christmas card! Wow! Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed every day!!
