Day 7 – October 28

The Llao Llao resort is lovely. Our room is a little snug for the price I'm sure we are paying; so is the bathroom; and there are nowhere near enough electrical outlets for charging the warehouse full of electronics I brought along.

Breakfast was served in an elegant two-story room with picture windows offering magnificent views of the Andes and the infinity pool. Unfortunately, it is rainy and misty and chilly -- about 50°F. After breakfast, which was delish, I had a manicure at the spa. Others signed up for massages, exercise classes, etc.

Anne, Patrick and I then donned our rain gear and insulated coats and headed off to visit the quaint chapel on property. When the rain picked up, I turned around. I'm a fair weather walker and, besides, it was ruining the photo ops. Anne and Patrick walked on and nabbed me some shots of the chapel for the blog. Thanks, guys. And to Candace and Marti who supplied shots in the afternoon.

We checked out the resort shops, then Anne and I got our swimsuits on and headed to the heated indoor/outdoor pool. There's a place to swim under the glass doors and
out to a view of the big lake and the Andes. Lovely lovely. If the weather could just have cooperated. It rained on us and the wind was chilly; it felt like sleet was pelting our ears. But the view and concept were worth it. Patrick and Barcy joined us for the camaraderie and for lunch.

At 3 pm, we had tango lessons. About two-thirds of our band of 37 showed up to see this couple who has won several competitions demonstrate the tango and then attempt to convey their knowledge, if not their skills, to our group of klutzes. It was amusing; and a good time was had by all. Even Patrick gave it a try! ;-)

Four of the guys signed up to play golf at 1 pm. The course looked interesting but not interesting enough to play in the wind and the rain and 50-degree temps. They got four holes in before they dragged their sorry asses back to the lodge. My theory: They signed up for golf to have an excellent excuse to skip the tango lessons!

Dinner was a more formal one this evening – everyone in the group dressed up! White table cloth, flowers, candles and an incredible menu. We all loved our food – best meal with Tauck so far (only better meal as LaMar in Santiago on our own the first night). It was a lovely evening.

Missing my Golden Retrievers – hope you're keeping Miss Liz good company. There are many dogs here in South America, but mmany of those are strays. Sad. Makes me miss you more.

I am enjoying your blog so much getting ready for our Tauck Essence trip Jan 30th. My husband and I have had 3 tango lessons so far preparing to actually dance in Argentina. Doubt that we will be doing any of those fancy steps, but it sur
e is a beautiful dance!
