Thank You Ngaire and Shelly!
Well, you've done it again, Shell! You've gone and made me cry again! (happy tears, of course!) But this time it's Ngaire's entry that did it! When I realized she wrote this entry, I was overcome with joy, and I loved it! Your pics are absolutely gorgeous, and the views breathtaking! The color of the Sea is stunning, and those birds! Ha! I think I could hear that one in the tree squak (from the look on your face, Shell!) Oh, and the sunset...pure heaven! You've captured the raw beauty of the land perfectly and I thank you girls, for sharing your wonderful trip with us! You'll find the memories will last a lifetime. Your lives have indeed been changed; and you are rich from the experience...priceless.
Shelly, you've apparently fallen so deeply in love with your precious NZ, that when you become acquainted with new folks along the way, they can't help but love you right back! What a wonderful gift that is. I'm so proud of you!
And it's fun to "see" it from Ngaire's perspective. It's clear she enjoys exploring her own country through your eyes, and has taught you so much more through it all. Your friendship is unique and rare, and I imagine you will always stay close to one another, no matter how many miles are between you. Miles, schmiles.
Ngaire, we hope you will plan a trip to the states soon, to visit Shelly. We'd love to meet you! And believe me, Shelly knows how to show you the very best of what her hometown has to offer, no matter where she is, Palm Beach, Greenville, or New Orleans. You're definitely in for a real treat!
She sure knows how to live life to the fullest, but obviously you already know that!
Thanks again for your pics and comments, girls, we love 'em! Good luck with your finals! Finish the semester right, and be proud for all that you've accomplished. (Do I see a big party in your near future?) We love you! SWAK! Mommy

Your such a beautiful person shelz
One of the coolest people I have ever met in my life
Love Jamie (Ngaires best friend).
Oh How Time Flies! Well my dear sweet Shelly,
As I read the beginning of your unavoidable goodbye to Wellington, your beloved home away from home, I can't help but feel a bit sad...seems just like yesterday when you arrived there, high on anticipation and eager to explore the wonders of the land of the Kiwis. You were so excited.
For as long as I can remember, you've declared your strongest desire to visit New Zealand some day. And now you have my dear. In the four short months you've lived in Wellington, you have clearly become one of them, you are an adopted Kiwi now, thanks to their warm hospitality and gracious generosity.
I want to thank everyone there for being so welcoming and supportive of you over the course of the semester.
Obviously you have made wonderful new friends from all over the world, with whom you have shared such marvelous times. You are truly blessed, Shelly. When it's all said and done, you'll surely know that it's the people who have touched your life who are most dear to you. They are part of who you are now...a priceless souvinir, indeed! May God continue to Bless All Of You as you finish up your studies at the university. Love and SWAK, Mommy
Check it out Be sure you check out the U of Toronto Museology program offered at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto - my Mum was the assistant to the Director for years so I can testify to the quality of the program -- considered one of the best anywhere!!
I have also had the privilege of going behind the scenes -- such a gift to experience!! Love ya!!

congrats What a great opportunity! I can't wait to see what you put together when you work at a museum some day! I love gallery openings and what not. Keep having a wonderful time! Much love my dear!
So, you're feeling like a Kiwi! Boy Shell, you sure are taking in the full flavor of NZ...politics and all! And it looks like you're feeling like a full-blown Kiwi now, all jazzed up on their energy, issues, progress, etc. Very good!
You really are learning a precious life lesson, sweetie. Now, we look forward to your return home to share your experiences and the knowlege you've gained from them, with us! Who knows, you may very well be instrumental in affecting a change for the better here! Heaven knows, we need that! I say, Way To Go Aunty Helen!
On another note, your school/city/flat pics are great! Yes, the views are truly beautiful; I see how difficult it must be for you to study at times! How lucky you are, young lady, to have this extraordinary opportunity to live in such a wonderful place! I do hope you haven't lost sight of that blessing! I am so very proud of you, Shelly; keep up the good work, sweetie. SWAK!Mommy
Well it's been a while since we last added a comment. You have been busy traveling. The pictures are spectacular! This is definitely one of the places we want to visit after seeing it through your eyes. Have fun!!
National Geographic Bound! Exactly what I was thinking. Shelly is set on a course of wildlife adventure! You stay safe please. I want to see you at Christmas and most of all see you "Play Out" the tale for us.
Loads of Love, Aunt Linda
Greetings from IT'S YOGA! STUDIO Hi, Shelley. It was great to hear of the adventures and the fun you are having. I certainly felt like I was somehow part of the group with your wonderful comments.
The studio continues to be in full swing. If you can get online to check out my website so you can see what workshops we are doing. We had a unique and rare experience when I was requested to host a master guru who is touring the US through Sept. 17. He was here at the studio Aug. 21 for a 2 hour meditation program. I had 26 people at the studio for it. So exciting. My guru's daughter, Kamini Desai did a workshop Aug. 5-7 on chakras and we had 24 people. She will return April 2006.
Great to hear of your travels!!! Look forward to seeing you when you return!!
Love and Light,
Kristi

Now you've done it!!
Oh my goodness, Shelly! Now you've gone and done it, dear! You've topped your list of risky adventures while in the South Island. Really, I never imagined you'd be threatened by Fur Seals! As I've followed your antics through the South Island, all of which have been somewhat risky, or downright dangerous, I didn't think you'd outdo yourself by encountering hostile wildlife on your last hike! It's beginning to look like you're enjoying the adrenaline rush or something!
Glad I didn't know about the dangers of this one either...until it was already over! Now, I really am convinced you need to go work for the National Geographic! SWAK! Mommy
Ahh, relaxation!
So glad you've found such a purely unspoiled spot to rest and relax in, Shell! I continue to be amazed by the stark beauty of the South Island! The hot pools must have been quite soothing, especially following your long trek. Ahh! And how nice it must be to befriend the locals! You are indeed touching lives as you explore the terrain; and the folks you've encountered along the way will be part of your lifelong memory of the journey. What an envigorating experience it must be for you! I think you've found real peace on earth, dear. I'm so glad. SWAK, mommy
Gorgeous vistas Shelly! Surely you must keep pinching yourself, to see if it's not all a dream! What a breathtaking view of the Tasman Sea, and the Pancake Rocks, etc. You asked if we could see something in one of the rock profiles...yes! It reminds me of someone we know...someone who resembles the likes of a baboon! Ha!
And your sunset pics are lovely too, Shell. Looks like you three girls are really enjoying your spring break adventure to the fullest, indeed! I wonder what's next on your "hit list!" Can't wait until next time, SWAK! Mommy
Cooler than Cool! WOW Shell, you keep amazing me with your "let's see you top this!" activities! Looks like you've gone back in time with your glacier trek...rock falls and all! Gosh, am I ever glad I didn't know those little details (i.e. life-threatening boulders chasing you down the thing!) until AFTER you had done it! You know you're beginning to look a lot like a National Geographic adventurer these days...is that what it seems like to you? I'm so proud of you, sweetie! But please remember to BE CAREFUL!! Your mother thanks you. SWAK!
