dumped in space! I really enjoyed this rant, loved the photo\'s and the facts. it is some what hard I agree, to imagine what it would have been like for all those who edured the hardships of that time. 1947 isnt really that long ago.
Franks a crab! I think I'd be getting alittle over the missy at reception also by now. Must admit though, you two are visiting some amazing places. What food does a creole resturant serve?
Shame you missed the launch, fancy getting tossed off the bus Shell...poor loves. Ah yes, the joys of traveling....enjoy xx

innovative! Hey guys xx, Xmas is certainly close now. Go figure that air con! Those were interesting facts about the amazon. Its a sad truth within many a country. 4.600 sq mtrs, thats a national park.
Glad to here your off the beaten track, be interesting to hear of what these 3 small countries are like.
Take care xx
WOW What amazing locale for Christmas Day coming up for you guys? Have a blast. I'll be thinking of you from Yellow Mtn in China this Christmas Day as we trek in a blizzard (hoping). Hoping to score my 17th Chinese provence this trip. Enjoy the sunshine!
17 out of how many?? While i am boiling my bum off i will be thinking of you in your fur hat trudging through the snow. Have a great trip, Christmas and New Year
WOW!! They are very beautiful, I\'ve never seen a live jaguar either. I can only hope the enclosure wasn\'t too bad?
Hey scotty, I dont think I\'ve ever heard you so mad before, I can understand your frustration, i probably would have blown up well before you given some of the situation you have both found yourselves in, hmmmm......traveling for that long and where litle english is spoken has to be tough, I admire you both for how well you manage it all. Hi chilled Shelly x.
Glad you got to see the Bond flick, I\'m hoping to see in big screen also.
Smile and take care and get the f%^k out of Brazil! xx
I agree!!!! I remember seeing some over done churches when I visted europe in 98. I agree, they are actually ugly, far too busy with gold everywhere, a chaotic hectic mess. And a makeup overload.
thats a big call, Brazil like india! Glad you,ve enjoyed salvador, and zulu. be happy and safe.
can't believe xmas is around the corner. wonder where you will be this year?
You know what a big statement that is Hi Traudy,
Not completely like India but there are similarities. As for Christmas we are three weeks out and already collecting tinsel for our backpacks. Think we might be in Guyana or Venezuala. Email you again soon
How do you do it? I guess if you have to get from one destination to another you must. I cant imagine 19hrs on a bus, with that veiw.
I love it when I see photo\'s of you both, you look so healthy and happy. Rio non carnivale must be so different, I recall the energy and vibe from your blog at the time of carnivale, those pic\'s were incredible. Nothing wrong with having casual chiiled out times, you both need them, particularly traveling via buses. Nice veiw from the pad at Rio and the veiw below 72 mtrs!!! you both did it, rapelled down, crazy hey? xx
Great shot Like this critter. What is it? Glad you show a map with each of your blogs as it is exciting to follow your progress and seeing your next destination. How far ahead do you plan the route...planned or spontaneous?
planned spontaneity The little critter is an Agouti....we think. It is a bit like an oversized guinea pig, so they wouldnt do too well in Peru. As for a planned trip, from October last year till march this year was on a time frame because of the Rio carnival and flights for the Inca trail and Galapagos. From there we followed a rough plan but we strayed quite a bit, such as Paraguay wasnt on our plan. At the moment we are heading up into the Guianas, which is spontaneous. Looking forward to heading somewhere that the lonely planet has put a full guide books out on (only in the shoestring). You must be about to head out to Vietnam for Xmas? Hope you have a great trip and look forward to your blogs.
Being Brazilian myself, born and raised, having lived abroad and traveled to places considered less "developed" and "educated", I can vouch for the difficulties of traveling in Brazil - even for the Portuguese speaker. I compare the lack of organization and preparedness of the tourism and hospitality industry to what is seen in India, but at ten times the cost, twenty times the risk, and infinitely harder for independent traveler.
Would rather Brazil to India Thanks Andre,
Having travelled to India, we are often left comparing Brazil to India, (good points and bad points), but Brazil isn't that bad. We have really loved the places we have been to and met some truly great people, but as independent travellers it is difficult. Brazil seems more organised/accepting for the package tourist, which is a shame because it has so much to offer for the independent traveller. Thanks for your comment it makes me feel better about getting frustrated whilst caffeine deprived.

THE POWER OF THE CHURCH Extraordinary pics from Salvador...colours...simple lines...then the "over the top" lavish in the churches...guess its the power of the Church that it can extol the funds into its building funds to do so. When I see such opulence I wonder who ultimately paid for it. Have a great time as you continue on the road to everywhere.
Well said! "Unfortunately when you party on like there is no tomorrow, when tomorrow actually comes you sort of wish there hadn’t been a yesterday."
Enjoyable read and beautiful photos. Looking forward to following. :)
It's an elephant!!! How beautiful, peaceful and relaxing this place looks and feels from your blog.. Looking at the pictures and seeing the gorgeous greenery of the rainforts, the peguins, turtle, gorgeous dog ( I also fed the dogs (bones and all) in India, so many hungry and in need of affection. Definately and great place for your respite holiday, looks fresh and inviting. Nice break. Are elephants native to the area? xx
I'm catching up! Arrgh! That bus ride sounds like the flight home from India, without the hangover though. AWFUL!
The Dom Bosco interior looks amazing. I quite like the style of all the modern looking concrete buildings too. So what was the best feed yet??? Usually we get a description.
Looking good Shelly, nice and relaxed. xx
Like wow!!!! The 25yrs together and the cave abseil to celebrate, now thats classy adventure.... seeing the pic\'s it looks so far down, core reaching....excitingly brave of you both. The snorkel at
Rio da Prata sounded nice also, very pretty pic\'s and fishies. Nothing crappo about these hits.
xx
@#^*(^&^%#!@&*)^%$#@!!!!!! Oh no! How awful for you both and quite frightening. You ever can be certain in such situations when in foriegn countries, who to believe, let alone trust. Thankgod you both got it sorted out, eventually and had a good cabbie.I completely understand your frustration ( had some of it with Emirates floor staff) and yeah, sounds like everything seemed to sewer from there. Hate that!
The falls look just as amazing as they did before, love the butterfly effect and the stranded (probabaly not) turtie. Wardrobe malfunction big time Shelly...as for giving money to the kids/beggars, we do sometimes and other times we give sweets or pens. I enjoy to give.
be safe xx
guys!!!! scary blankets and bedspreads....sounds poohy to me! Gross.
Love the photo of the sunset and the approaching sandstorm. Those loose barges are massive.... interesting photo\'s of the Jesuit mission also. On to Brazil xx
LOVE THE ARCHITECTURE Your pics convey a vibrant, modern city with a cracking name Brazillia...bring on the Olympics! Hope you are marking a map of South America of the roads you are travelling...would be quite a veinous collectable!
