Bali 1 29/12 We had a nice lie in today, and got up to check out of our hotel at 12 o clock. We didn't exactly have much packing to do after only 1 night. The hotel called us a taxi to take us to our next hotel...well, guest house! The taxi driver refused to use his meter as it was 'too busy' and charged us a whopping 150,000 rupiah for the trip. I think he needed extra money for a new hat, which was literally a peak and just a couple of strips of material left holding it together! The driver didn't know where the guest house was, he had to keep stopping to ask people if they knew of the road and phoned the guest house to ask for directions. We finally arrived at ... read more

26/12 We were up at 7 to check out and get a taxi to the airport. We had booked it through the hotel so it was ready for us when we checked out. It took about 45 minutes to get to the airport (which chantelle slept through!). We checked in to the cutest airport in the world! We had to walk through a little shopping area which looked like a village to get to the domestic/ upper class gate (the same thing!). We boarded the place, which was only half full, plenty of space! We got fed on the plane and arrived quickly in Singapore. There were no queues for immigration, so we got straight through, and headed for the taxi rank. It cost $20HK to get to the hotel, which took about 20 minutes. We ... read more

Asia » Thailand » South-West Thailand » Ko Samui April 2nd 2013

Lets get festive....!!! 21/12 We got up and had our free breakfast (in Koh Pagnan!) and checked out. We booked our taxi plus ferry ticket to Koh Samui, and transfer in samui from our hotel. It cost us 550 baht for all three which was a good deal, as the ferry ticket alone would have been 450 baht. Our taxi driver to the ferry port was none other than Charlie the barman! We jumped in the back of his pick up with our cases and headed to the ferry port. We got our sticker for the ferry, with our hotel name written on and boarded the ferry. It only took half an hour to get to Samui, but was a bit of a rocky ride at the front of the Lomproyah catamaran. We got on our ... read more

So, again, we need to journey back before Christmas- I might catch up one day! Just a short blog this one, so won't keep you long!! 19/12- mammoth journey day! We had to be up at 6am this morning to have breakfast, check out and get on the long tail boat at 7am. The long tail boat took us across to the ferry, which wasn't far away this time. Just a few people got on this stop, we decided to grab some seats whilst it was nice and empty! Bags in the corner again ready to be dumped upon. We stopped at Tonsai pier to pick everybody else up and get their luggage on...we then pulled alongside another boat, where more people proceeded to get on! We were worried about the time as we had a ... read more

Well hello!! Sorry for the lack of blog entries, the wifi in Australia is very rarely free! So let's journey back 2 and a half months when it was still 2012 and before Christmas! 12/12 We woke up (in Bangkok) and checked out of our hotel at 12 o clock. We headed to the hotel pool as our flight was not until later on. We spent a few hours relaxing there and sunbathing. It was very hot. When it was time to leave we attempted to get a taxi from the hotel but there was a massive traffic jam so there were no taxis coming past. The security guard tried to get us a tuk tuk, but there wasn't even any of these around! We realised we would have to walk to the skytrain with all ... read more

6/12 We got up, packed and checked out of our hotel, hanging around in the lobby for a bit, using the computers in the lobby and having some lunch in the restaurant. We headed to Central with our luggage to the IFC mall where we were meeting Lisa and Hillard for a bit. We had a mooch round the mall for a bit and then headed to Zentro to wait for Lisa and H. They ended up getting stuck behind some water buffalo after looking at a house on Lantau Island, so were a bit and we only ended up with time for a quick drink before we had to get the Airport Express line to the airport, which cost $50, but was a nice train and quick. We got to the airport and realised our ... read more

Firstly, sorry it has taken me so long to publish this blog- we haven't had great wifi connections, so it has been difficult to write and keep on top of! Hope you still enjoy reading it though even though it was so long ago! 25/11 We got up and had some toast for our wonderful free breakfast at the Holiday Inn. We checked out of the hotel and headed to the railway station and onto the metro. We decided to take the Maglev line to the airport- the fastest train in the world! It took a whole 8 minutes from the centre of Shanghai to the airport, with a top speed of 431kph, it was pretty speedy! We got to the airport and checked in for our flight. Stamped out of China! Woohoo! Had some lunch ... read more

19/11 We left Chengdu after a quick breakfast in the hotel. We got a taxi to the airport- there was one waiting outside the hotel, they initially wanted ¥70 for the trip so we walked off, to which they agreed to use the meter. The journey actually only cost ¥50! Cheeky buggers, and we think the hotel was in on it, getting a cut of the expensive prices! Checked in at the airport and wandered around..we were quite early and there wasn't much to look at, so we decided to sit in pizza hut and figured that 10.30am was a good a time as any for a pizza...! Flight to Shanghai was fine and we got more food...didn't eat much of it though, more beef and rice! Got a taxi from the taxi rank at the ... read more

14/11 So, we finally made it to Chengdu after our 16 hour train journey! We hopped straight in a taxi at Chengdu station and headed to our hotel. The traffic was pretty bad near the station so it took a little while to get there, and cost a whopping ¥40! (£4) We got to our Holiday Inn express in Wuhou, Chengdu (woohoooo!!) Managed to check in around an hour early and headed to our room. An extremely comfy bed, it was very tempting to lie down and have a snooze but we decided to go down to the hotel restaurant for some lunch. Had some tasty pork with peppers, noodles and rice. After lunch we had a much needed scrub down and then headed out to explore our local area. There wasn't much about- It was ... read more

We made it Xi'an, and onto blog number 3! Think I have managed to add some photos to this blog- hope they show up. :) 8/11 So after a better sleep than expected, we woke up by 7 and waited to arrive in Xi'an. It was so nice having our little private cabin with bathroom, meant we could change and freshen up in the morning. We arrived at Xi'an station around 9.20am and headed outside to get a taxi to our hotel. We immediately got approached by lots of men, swining their car keys asking if we needed 'taxii?' We ignored them all, of course and got into the official taxi queue. After a little wait we got into a taxi and handed the driver the address (written in Chinese thanks to last hotel) of our ... read more
