During the summer period my wife Cigdem and I were not traveling, which is against our nature. An unexpected weekend duty at work made me to decide to have at least a weekend away which is not close but also not too far. After some browsing on internet, one small place took my attention, which is called Vianden, at Luxemburg. Spontaneously we booked a hotel room and planned our weekend away. However it was a spontaneous action, we managed to convince our friends Arif & Selma to join us for the weekend. So double fun! 17-07-2010 Finally the day arrived. Early in the morning we drove to the house of Arif and Selma and drove to the direction of Belgium. Slowly when we approached Luxemburg, the landscape changed significantly. Older Byzantine tradition dating to the 4th century identified the location as the Cenacle of Jesus and the original meeting place of the Christian faith. . From there we arrived in a synagogue, which has been changed to ... read more

Middle East » Israel » Tel Aviv District » Tel Aviv March 5th 2006

The day to fly to Tel Aviv arrived. Altough it was a business trip, it was an oportunity to see Israel. When I called the airport in order to check for the flight details, I'd noticed that I had to be there 4 hours in advance due to the security check!. Arrived at the Amsterdam airport, went to the check in desk of El Al. Only difference is that this desk is just slightly different then the other ones. It was in a corner protected with bulletproof glass and there were troopers with automatic guns for protection. Security for EL AL has a very high priority. Once arrived at the 'check in desk' which was a table where every traveler gets an personal interview about the purpose of the travel, ethnic background, with who you travel ... read more
