Crazy Pictures Hey, I miss you tons. It sounds like you are having tons of fun. As soon as you find a phone with long distance you have to call me! Those were some pretty great pictures. I love the pigeon, and the bird eating spider is scarrier looking then I thought. The close ups of me though are not so flattering! Anyways I LOVE YOU. TTFN

Comfort on the train You get what you pay for on the train. Backpackers usually take the lounge seat and pay $253 one way. A sleeper cabin for backpackers sharing is $956. Backpackers who want the Gold service pay $1241.

Grab a Granny night Basically, 'Grab a Granny Night' was a term used by a couple local guys to describe how the pub is full of old people on saturday nights. It is a night that should be avoided by all. Well...except for the elderly, apparently.
bugs It is very interesting to hear about the bugs you are experiencing over there - that is the kind of thing they never put in travel books. How close are you to the sea that it smells of seaweed when it rains?
A few people have said G'day Mate, but not as many as I'd have expected.
I think the transit system would be more efficient if they put the G'Day Mate People ON the trains. Or even the platforms.
Then again though, they might get hurt.
transit Maybe the transit system is designed that way to force people to phone in and ask the transit operater where they are going all the time, sot they can say "G'day Mate" to all the passengers. Has anyoe said that to you yet?
Really? Why would they name it Mount Pleasant if it isn't? And then you got ice cream on the way home, even though you were freezing not long before? Something about this just does not add up.... are you sure you are not trying to make the rest of us feel better about winter in Canada while you are on a tropical beach?
On October 15th, 2006, I will be leaving my home (Calgary, Alberta, Canada), to backpack for a year. My destinations are Australia, Singapore, Thailand and Japan.
