Working

Just a quick update, since I'm tired. Going back to work has taken a lot out of me, apparently.

I've been working in an office for the past two days, stuffing envelopes. The people there were SO nice, and I was quite happy, earning almost $19 an hour. I've been talking to this one guy who's given me a few ideas of where to go to have fun, since he used to live around Port Noarlunga. AND he's burning me a CD of Eskimo Joe. Its a band from Perth that I've been wanting to hear, so I'm really excited to go back next week to get the CD 😊

It took me two hours to get home from work yesterday, because the trains kept breaking down. They're so ancient, its a wonder they move at all, really.

It rained like crazy last night. After a storm, it smells like seaweed around here. If you don't know what seaweed smells like, I envy you. Its like rancid...fish. Its absolutely appalling.

I saw a snail for the first time ever today! With the little feely bits on the top of its head! And the wet trail of slime it leaves behind it.

To get home from the train, I walk through the reserve by my moms house. I keep waiting to get bitten by a snake. The grass is pretty short, and its not too hot out, so I've heard I'm pretty safe to go through there. Still though. I scan the ground ahead of me, and sorta stomp my feet when I walk, so I don't trod up and come face to face with a King Brown, or anything.

And now its time for bed.

It is very interesting to hear about the bugs you are experiencing over there - that is the kind of thing they never put in travel books. How close are you to the sea that it smells of seaweed when it rains?

We can see the ocean from the house. But we ARE on a hill. lol I'd say the ocean would be a good....20 minute walk from the house.
