Off to Shah Alam Agriculture Park. This place was quite interesting, but had not been kept up to date. It is a 1200Ha park that was designed to demonstrate agriculture. We walked quite some way, and the forest was excellent. We got on a bus and got off at points of interest. The spice garden only had chili’s, lemongrass and sweet potato. The animal enclosures were enclosures, too small and concrete, with not much of anything native, horses, rabbits, Sulphur crested Cockatoo and Peacocks. Back to Chinatown and you want bag, you want wallet, G’day mate etc. Doesn't take long to tire of the markets. Kids had a fish foot spa. The fish only eat dead skin, and nibble your feet. Harry was in fits of laughter. Dinner, well considering the options, back to the same ... read more

Corry summed it up, Adelaide could learn a lot from Singapore. We got up too early, but I think that was better, would have been tight for time otherwise. Got to the train station and got tickets to Kuala Lumpur, only first class left (blew the budget there). The cornflake club had Rice cooked in coconut milk, with egg, chicken, and a chili peanut sauce, and some fried meat pastries and curry puff. So much for not eating local breakfast. Harry ate his and anyone else’s he could get. The train ride was good. Lots to see, from jungle through to plantations of banana, coconut, palm and fruits of various types. The architecture, for want of a better word, is pretty average, they need to improve the zinc coating on corrugated iron at least. The country ... read more

Woke at 7.00 am Singapore time, 9.30 home, so good catchup. Hit the streets straight away. Nice to get out early and see everyone getting ready for the day. Some guy cutting up Durian got the kids to take a photo of me with him. Found a lady making fried pastries. As we were looking a guy comes up to tell us what to buy. Thought they were going to have a full on fight, he said these are too oily, must try these etc, then we chose, then he is telling her off for passing off a burnt one, she says its crispy etc! He leaves and she gives us extra to prove its not oily. (it was a bit oily, but Harry loved it). So day one the 2/3rds that were not going to ... read more

Three flights takes its toll, but arrived safely in Singapore. Getting the train from the airport was easy and eventually found our accommodation. It was really close to the station, but that didn’t help. We were in Geylang, not one of the best suburbs I suppose, but it was fine. We grabbed some dinner, there were plenty of places close by and the food was good. Pork Buns, Hainese Chicken Rice, Roast Pork Rice etc. Singapore rates the vendors, so it’s pretty easy to see where you shouldn’t eat. Everyone collapsed into bed, probably after 12 home time, so pretty tired. Next day we would catch up with local time. ... read more
