Geo: -20.2679, 148.716We made it back safey, having rode out the tropical storm in Cid Harbor for 2 days. Water dripped through the hatch on our heads as we slept and we bounced through the night but our anchorage held. We returned to Airlie Beach and heard about the damage that occurred here as they were unprotected from the Northerly winds. We were amazed. At least 36 boats were tore from their moorings or anchorages and smashed onto the rocks on shore. Some were luckier to be washed on to sandy beaches but the damage was in the millions. Many sad stories of boats that were not insured but even ones that were will never give the owners what they had before the storm. We stayed at 2 Home Exchanges that were condos with pools. Geo: -20.2196, 149.025As you know how much we love sailing, we chartered a bareboat from Airlie Beach for a week from Feb 7th to 15th. When we sailed we caught a few days of mixed sun and rain where we had some fun adventures; snorkelling, hiking and meeting all kinds of new and strange Marine animals (huge sea turtles, tropical fish, stingrays flying into the sky and phosphorous plancton that lit up the night waters like a star filled night). We even woke one day to discover squid (that fly apprarently) on board and in our dinghy. We found a fourth squid (after another unpleasant day where the smell was getting gruesome) behind the head (toilet). He somehow flew through the 4 inch by 6 inch portal and crawled behind the toilet - unseen for a ... read more

Caught a lot of theatre; Billy Elliot, the musical (Loved it), Burt Bacharach live at the Opera House and a new gay musical, Hello Again (not so much).... read more

After a long flight we arrive in Melbourne, Australia airport to be greeted by the smiling face of our new friend, Kerrin. Kerrin takes us to Ocean Grove pointing our highlights along the way.
