What a great day! We woke up and went out for breakfast, which was an experience and a half. I am pretty sure we were not given what we ordered but the chicken quasadia was alright for breakfast. We then bused to Tulum where we wandered around and found a good hostel (The Weary Traveler). We share our room with 5 others all of which are good roomies. There names are Ollie (England), Avi (Isreal), Liz (Australia), and Sarah (America). Pretty multinational group, Liz and Sarah were on their way to Honduras and we will most likely be taking diving lessons from Sarah. Dinner was good at Charlies where I again managed to have a chicken quasadia. After dinner Liz convinced the three of us and Sarah to go out for drinks. We headed to a ... read more

North America » Mexico » Quintana Roo » Cancun December 3rd 2009

Woke up early to pack all our stuff, and headed to the airport. Flew out of Vacouver at 1:20pm on a clear sunny day. We arrived in Mexico City at 8:30pm meeting a fellow traveler named Becky. From there we boarded our flight to Cancun at 11:00pm. It was a funny experience ordering food only speaking Spanish but we managed to get some without any mistakes (Matt ordered a medium agua which was funny). We got to Cancun at 1 in the morning and went strait to a hotel to sleep. Well it was a rough stay in Cancun, paying a 45 dollar cab fee. Ripped off badly, hopefully tomorrow will be better.... read more

I woke up before Justin and Matt so I could eat the rest of Grandpa's blueberry pancakes for breakfast. Following that we had an uneventful day picking up the last of our supplies, running into Caroline at the mall. We watched the last Canucks game vs New Jersey before our trip. The good thing being, we will be back in Canada in time to see the Canucks win the cup. Finished the night with a walk along the Sea Walk with Grandpa, Aunt Wendy, Justin, and Matt. Last night before our flight.... read more

Woke up at 5.00am to go pick up Justin at the Greyhound station where we preceded to get lost only to have to backtrack though Vancouver increasing our morning drive. Good thing I was driving, I hate to wonder how lost we would have been if someone else was driving :). When we got back to my grandpa's at 6 we all went back to sleep until a decent hour of 10:30. For breakfast I didn't want to hassle my grandpa too much, for in his words we were cramping his style with his lady friends. A fairly uneventful day, where we drove around Vancouver picking up necessities. We ended up at my Grandpa's for dinner and sleep. Justin, Matt, and I are almost ready to fly out, one more stop at an Internet cafe to ... read more

Woke up at 8am for breakfast at the Blue Fox with Matt and Nina. Alan took us to the 1:00 ferry to vancouver where we took a bus downtown. Following a series of buses and sky trains we eventually met up with our friends (Nick, Stefan, Heather, Matt, and Sharlene) for dinner. After a nice cook it yourself dinner at Sukiyaki, Aunt Wendy picked us up and brought us to Grandpa's house to sleep.... read more

Matt and I left Port Alberni to begin our Central American trip. Both our mothers giving us words of wisdom as we left. One particular statement being We love you dearly, you are our favorite 2 sons. We decided to book tickets with Air Mexicana, the cheapest flight possible. If you read their reviews, you would know what we were getting into. Andrew drove us to Victoria where we visited friends for the day. Nina, Stu, Bonnie and I went out to dinner while Matt graced his grandparents with his presence. After, we all went to Swans for drinks which Alan paid for without us knowing at the time. Good start to our trip. ... read more
