Although not generally a fan of big cities, my impression of Malaysia's capital, usually referred to simply as KL, was favorable. The city was full of life - and parklands, bustling streets, quiet alleyways, glitzy malls and towering high rises seemed to be scattered all around at random, ensuring that any meandering wander through the city was interesting. The highlight of the visit for me, however, was an excursion to the north to see the Batu Caves. The main cave was reached by a lengthy staircase. During the annual Hindu festival held here, the stairs would be thronging with worshippers and perplexed tourists, but we encountered relatively few visitors.
