"As soon as I saw you, I knew an adventure was going to happen". Winnie the Pooh After only a few hours of sleep I roused the group early to get up and at 'em. We had breakfast & coffee in our condo, packed a great lunch/drinks in our cooler (which we stored in a locker) and headed down the magical highway to Magic Kingdom. (I'd rather have a nice homemade lunch than spend $100 on hot dogs & fries). Excellent drive there, no traffic, got a close parking spot, and then looked around eerily over my shoulder thinking to myself, "What is wrong with this picture"? It seemed way too easy & way too good to be true to get here without any issue at all. It was the beginning of a fabulicious day! We ... read more

If you can dream it, you can do it. Walt Disney So we're finally here in Orlando and settled into our resort Liki Tiki and I've got to say, it's pretty darn nice. It has been a loooong day to say the least. A shout out to to Sue for getting this motley crew to the airport. Thank you! We were going to leave our vehicles at the airport but the idea of arriving back at the airport to a snow/frost covered van at midnight gave us shivers (for many reasons), and given we're 11 people, we'd need a line up of cabs just for luggage, so thank you Sue for getting us there. It's never fun to be the one left behind :( "If you have nothing in life but a good friend, ... read more

Laughter is timeless. Imagination has no age and dreams are forever. Walt Disney After years of discussing when we'd take our gals to Disney World Orlando, without having to mortgage the house, we're leaving tomorrow (Thurs) till the 19th! (PS due to a system upgrade my list of emails was somewhat erased; if you've gotten this email & don't want it, unsubscribe (and sorry) as I imported emails over. Quite sure my dentist does not want to hear about our Disney trip :) So you may ask, "What lunatic would pick just before Christmas to go away given how busy it is preparing for the holidays?" Guilty as charged. These lunatics got such a diggity-dog amazing deal that we couldn't pass it up. Apparently any time of year is fun to visit Disney World, but Christmas ... read more

"If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans." ~ Well God must have been slapping his knee in laughter over our plans to get home Weds. night & safely tucked into our beds. HA! So here's the story... Our flight from Cancun was delayed by 3.5 hours; this in turn, caused us to miss our connecting flight home. Our airline assured us we'd have vouchers for food and a hotel in Toronto. While not ideal having to go back & forth to the airport with heavy luggage & carry-ons (and no Al as he and Lara flew out on another flight), it was what it was. Talk about taking the wind out of a girl's sail after a tropical vacation. I had suggested to Martha we stay another night in Playa and ... read more

"Oh what a glorious morning, oh what a glorious day, plenty of sunshine heading my way, zip-a-dee-doo-dah".... It's hard to believe within 24 hours we'll be waking up in our own beds. Right now I've opened our sliding doors to a humid warm breeze and the sun is playing hide and seek with me through the palm trees. Oh those pool waterfalls are so inviting; I think it's time to get in my bathing suit and hit them! It was a really nice sunny hot day here yesterday; I saw more people with sunburns than all of my time here. We were careful and no one got burnt. It was the type of weather that gets the beaches hopping and the blenders going! We had a great day at the condo in the pool, and later ... read more

Goodbyes are not forever, goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean "I'll miss you till we meet again". We were sad to say good-bye to grandma and grandpa who left for home (Crossfield Alberta) today. I hate good-byes, so I say, "till we meet again". The kids are going to miss you both, but we've established a good yearly (or bi-yearly) ritual of getting together. This has been a wonderful summer vacation, and ending it at Porto Playa Condo Hotels is an added bonus. I LOVE Luna, but after a while being oceanfront, you can appreciate a break from the constant stream of sounds, noises, and crowds. This condo is set back a block from the ocean, but in the heart of Playa but you'd never know there was a bustling happening outside ... read more

"Remember happiness is a way of travel, not a destination". Well after a u-haul effort to get us to our new condo (as Ray coined it), we're here and settled in for our last few days before returning home. This place is just a fantastic peaceful haven as previously mentioned of tropical sounds and nature with the nicest luxurious accommodations. We all had a great swim in the pool which was so refreshing after the packing up and moving, followed up with a stay in the Jacuzzi & then drinks on the terrace. It's so tranquil here; it's very private and we just walk out our sliding door to the pools and Jacuzzi. We had a lovely dinner at Wicky's with the ocean waves rolling in, the trees wrapped in lights and the sound of music ... read more

A recipe has no soul. You as the cook must bring soul to your recipe.Food glorious food,oh how I love thee. I knew we'd be best friends when I met you ;) And food & I have been friends a long time now; like good friends I get it and it gets me! I am forever on a quest about food; how many different soups I can make, how many ways there are to stuff a pork tenderloin or chicken & am always checking out new recipes. And it's sheer joy for me to experiment with herbs & spices as well. The world is my oyster and watch out oyster - I'll eat you too! I will cook anything for our guests, and quite often I'm almost too full to eat my dinner if it's an ... read more

"Be still. The quieter you are, the more you can hear."~ We made a really good decision to head back to Isla Mujeres yesterday and Ray & Pat joined us. It was threatening rain at 8 am but by the time we hopped on the ferry it was steaming hot. We all sat up on the deck top, and enjoyed our quick trip across to the island with the ocean colors dazzling us while a fine mist brushed our faces. Smiles could be seen all around. From there we got two golf carts; one bigger than the other with four seats facing forward. I can't say these carts were as good as the ones we had the first day; they didn't have the pick up and go we wanted but they in the end got us ... read more

"Sun is shining, weather is sweet. Makes you wanna move your dancing feet". I think if I pasted in the same blog each day that it's fun, hot, soft sand, pool, and ocean, great food, music and company, you'd might never notice the difference. I feel I'm boring you with some of the days as if we're on repeat! After the island tour, we were beat from the feet up. I was so tired from cruising the island that I think I thanked the microwave for heating up Ava's hot chocolate! Thursday was relaxing with Al having another dive where he saw a lot of marine life. In particular, huge crabs, lobsters & moray eel, and a large stingray, barracuda and huge freakin' lion fish. Now if you have read anything about lion fish, they are ... read more
