Patricia Somewhere's Guestbook

11th December 2006

What an enriching experience. I know you weren't able to choose your season for visiting, I'd like to try for some cooler weather. The kind of heat you're describing would melt me. Rock paintings are particularly fascinating for me but I don't know if they would be enough for a 3 mile hike at above 40.

Hello friend
This trip has been truly incredible. Remote worlds have so much to review and show again how much we could live without, in terms of material stuff. The first step towards going places is to really want to go. Thus,... With love, Patricia

Impressive
Pa, I'm very impressed. What an experience! When I see you in such remote places of the world (from my point of view) I realize how little I've seem, experienced. Thanks for sharing. I love your e-mails.

Hello there in London
About the elephantes: 40 escaped and 2 have been put down, that has been disclaimed, due to damage to farms. It seems like a young male is usually the daring one to break loose, and others follow. I can already relate to being away from this all. Keep in touch and take care. patricia

Takes me back...
Great to read this, Patricia! Takes me back a few months, as I sit here in London trying to re-acclimatise and get used to dark setting in mid-afternoon! Wonderful lion sitings, that you've had, and I'm fascinated to hear about elephant that far south and east. Any other info about them? Keep scribbling: I'm looking forward to the next update already!

Africa!
Hi Patricia, I can't believe you are in Africa! I just returned yesterday from South Africa where I was visiting my girlfriend for 9 days around Thanksgiving. We focused our time in Cape Town, Jo-Burg and Kruger Park. I commend you for getting out to see more of the continent. When I have more time I will do the same... I look forward to your reports. Forrest

You are awesome!
I can hardly wait to see the posted photos. As much as I am dying to see/read about the camping safari, I would also really enjoy reading your presentation to the international meeting.

Colorful old vehicles
Twanda. I think it's worth it to dream that your old car has also been transformed in a colorful moving machine, hopefully minus the pollution of the Panamanian buses. I was certainly fascinated by the variety of drawings and phrases on the streets. Anything that can make one smile is to be celebrated, right? With a big hug for you my friend. Patricia

Meeting friends around the world
Grete: The "spooky" thing is that I also met these same friends at the World Cup in Palo Alto 8 years ago and in the streets of Miami 5 years ago, also by chance. On top of it, I talked about them the night before, in Panama, and they said they also talked about me the same night!!!! Is this intriging or what??? Great to be in touch with you my friend and pls send my love to Roger too.

Friends
With as many friends as you have, I think chances are good to find someone you know on your travels. Still a happy event.

Buses
What a beautiful home to otherwise discarded machines. I donated our old 1970 Ford station wagon; Charles was told it would probably be resold in Mexico. I would love to have seen it transformed into something like this.

Hey Twanda
So nice to know that you are "aboard" and enjoying the ride! As you can see I've conquered my fear of being on the air and it has been so rewarding. Keep in touch and say hello to Gordon, Grete and whoever I know and is still around UCD. I miss you. Patricia
