Ok it was Charles Brian Woods..... But I was born in 1949, and finished high school in Ottawa Canada in 1967.......I tried joining the US Navy.... I wanted to fly.....
Family was against it ...... So I didn't ...... The rest is history.... But when I saw the name.... I paused..... Such a small world.... Fly on "Bad Dog".....
Top of Utah Marathon Your photos are excellent. You captured quite a bit of emotion throughout the race and have given me a few ideas for my next marathon. Thanks for the link. I run with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3. It fits well in my palm and seems to endure the harsh conditions I put it through. My photos are completely random; I just shoot what I like and hope everyone else likes it, too. I\'m really happy to see others are enjoying this travelblog. Thank you for the kind comments. Debbie
Top of Utah Marathon Ed, I'm glad you enjoyed the photos. As I run with a camera and most photos are taken with only a second or two set up, I've wondered if people liked them. Good to know they're appreciated, at least by one person. The race was a marathon (26.2 miles). I've never competed in an ultra though I have many friends who have and would like to see me run one as well. I'm not sure a 100 mile race will ever be in my future, but who knows. Terrific Pitures! OGOW: You didn\'t mention this was a 100 mile/36 hour race at altitude over passes. I had a guest staying at my Off-Broadway Studios guest house who competed, this year. It blows me away that people are able to get in shape to accomplish the task. Well Done. Thanks for the nice pictures that better show the local scenery than the I-80/I-15 desert shots! BTW, this race comes on the heels of Speed Week out on the Salt Flats for those planning for next year.
SLC Half Hi Lee! Thanks for the note. I was out at Disney watching my daughter run. I was really disappointed I hadn't registered for it - I hadn't expected to be in Orlando otherwise, I would have run that race, too. Sorry to hear about your runner's knee. Lots of RICE and you'll be back to running in no time. Once your knee improves, I'd recommend getting trained up for that half you want to do in Puerto Rico. I think it's better to get trained up and then just stay trained up...it gives you more flexibility in case you decide you want to run another race before then. :) Good luck with your training!
Stairs Barbara - The stairs in the photo are between Center Street and Main Street on 4th North in the Marmalade District. A couple of other places you might want to check out are the stairs at Memory Grove, just a few blocks east and the stairs connecting 4th Avenue to East Capital Street just south of Memory Grove.
Congrats Congrats! I enjoyed reading your blog of the Salt Lake City Half. Thanks for the pictures. I was curious about the half as I only did the 5k today. That's a neat device that tracks the time of each mile. How much was your tracker? Don't you love passing guys during the race!! haha
And what an awesome experience to run with Jonathan Ndambuki!
Once again congrats on your accomplishment. I'll start training late summer for the Puerto Rico Diva Half (hopefully)after dealing with runner's knee from Disney in January. Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic young lady Dam you have to be in a lot better shape then the 2 amigos from costa rica DEB. Glad your still at it and looks like your having fun doing it which is all the better Just got back from Mexico with Jeanette and Jerry came back to lots of snow and cold weather. Finally seen Tom today remember him haha had a funeral to go to and him and ANDREA were there he fimally retired last yr and going to the mailbox a month ago he fell on the ice and ended up in the hospital . Just think 41 yrs walking on the rt no injuries then he goes to the mailbox and falls haha . Take care just thought i say hi.. SEMPER FI PVT WOJO haha

What a wonderful blog !!! Hahaha, first of all, I've been reading the entries on your blog for a couple of days now, I started on the year 2006. Besides that, I'm from Nicaragua, I was looking for some news about the Nicaragua- Costa Rica border and your blog came up on google. It was very interesting to read your point of view about my country, obviously a lot of things have change in the past years, but you will be happy to hear that the goods things are still the same. I enjoyed reading about San juan del sur, and laguna de apoyo, by the way I went to Monkey Hut in 2006 but only for a couple days with some friends, we also love the place , it's just great. I had a good time reading about how a bird pooped on you and they told you that it was good luck, actually I've always had the feeling that is the person who got pooped the one saying that is good luck, but that's just me. By the way sorry about malone, she seemed like a great dog, my dog passed away on november 3rd so it was comforting in some way to read a bout someone who misses her buddy as much as i am. It seem like you haven't come back to Nicaragua in a while, you should come back, and try to visit Selva Negra (Black JUngle ) it is a nice mountain hotel in the central region, the weather there is really cold so you are going to enjoy it, also I can recommend you a trip to Mombacho volcano, it's great and there's a rain forest on top of the volcano. Maybe I'm just bragging a little about my country, well, it was a nice journey so far, and I'm waiting for the next entry. Read you later !!!

semper fi CONGRATS to ya young lady thats a hell of a run you need to put on a SEMPER FI BLACK HAT for that run . Yes life is short know of 2 guys who just turned 59 one died at xmas the other couple days ago . Everyone wished they ahd there life style cause they both had MUCHO BUCKS They both ended up getting cancer no one wants to trade with them now. Enjoy life cause were only here once I am no HURRY to visit the after life.TAKE CARE

Sublime San Fran I've never been a "big city" kind of guy, but when the US Govt saw fit to put me there on temporary duty for three months in the mid-90's I decided that if I ever had to spend time in one it would absolutely be San Francisco; more beauty, friendlier people, great food, ocean/bay views, and, unlike Salt Lake, openmindedness! I haven't been there for several years, but I'm ready to visit any time.

Marine Corps Base at Kaneohe Bay! I've been on that base before! I was there last year when I visited a friend who was in Hawaii briefly. I even got to go to the store where the Marine Corps items are sold and bought an olive green sweatshirt and sweatpants with USMC on them. :) I was so excited about it the lady behind the counter demanded to see military ID! LOL I also got a USMC shot glass with emblem on it to add to the tacky but growing shot glass collection I have. Glad you three are doing well...I miss you guys!
